A Cut Above the Competition

Our Premier model offers vastly more power than any handheld trimmer and will power through any trimming task and handle light to moderate mowing jobs with ease. At just 57 lbs it is light enough to maneuver in tight quarters, rolling easily on big 14" resin wheels. The Premier features a 22" cut and has five adjustable height settings, from 1.5 to 3.5 inches.

The 6.75 series Briggs & Stratton engine is available with either an easy-pull manual start, or an electric start for maximum convenience. Each DR Trimmer/Mower is backed by a 2-year warranty for residential use (90 days for commercial use). Briggs & Stratton engines are performance engineered, ensuring that you get the most out of your DR Trimmer/Mower!

An offset frame design allows the Premier to trim right up against foundations, fence lines and other obstacles with precise control. The front is fortified with a cast aluminum nose plate that protects the machine against damage from collisions.

Features
Trimmer line for a DR walk-behind string trimmer

Super-duty Cutting Cords

All DR Trimmer/Mowers accept super-thick 175 mil cutting cords—the thickest, longest-lasting in the industry (so you spend more time mowing and less time changing cords).

Trimmer head on a DR walk-behind string trimmer

No Wrapping

Unlike most trimmers, the DR wide-body design prevents vegetation from wrapping and tangling around the trimmer head (which tends to stall the engine. Even in tall grass, the DR Trimmer Mower keeps on keeping on.

Patented cord attachment system on a DR walk-behind string trimmer

Patented Cord Attachment System

Cords go on in seconds, no tools required. Choose from 5 different cutting height adjustments (1.5" to 3.5") at the same time you attach your cords. No tools and no extra time required. Set the cutting height low for trimming, or set it high for off-lawn mowing of tall grass and weeds.

Briggs and Stratton engine on a DR walk-behind string trimmer

Briggs & Stratton Engine

The legendary power, performance and durability of Briggs & Stratton® engines make them excellent choices for use on our Trimmer Mowers. They are easy to start, comfortable to use, and feature a debris management system that protects the engine from whatever you kick up while you’re cutting.

Cast aluminum nose plate and trimmer head on a DR walk-behind string trimmer

Cast Aluminum Nose Plate

The DR Trimmer/Mower's cast aluminum nose plate protects it against damage from collisions. Bumps and scrapes are inevitable when you're working, but you can ensure that they don't damage your machine.

Optional Beaver Blade on a DR walk-behind string trimmer

Optional Beaver Blade for the big stuff

The optional Beaver Blade turns your trimmer into a chainsaw on wheels. Cuts trees up to 3" in diameter quickly and easily. It's the perfect way to take down stands of "weed trees" without bending over or dropping to your knees like you have to with a normal chainsaw.

Optional Quick-Lock Trimmer Head on a DR walk-behind string trimmer

Optional Quick-Lock Trimmer Head

Allows you to change your trimmer cord in just seconds—completely hassle-free! Cord is simply inserted into the head and is anchored in place by the unique gripping mechanism! Perfect for quick cord changes in the field, and for those who often trim dense thickets of weeds.

DuraBlades on a DR walk-behind string trimmer

Optional DuraBlades for 3/8" Thick Brush

With our optional DR DuraBlades you can quickly swap out your cutting cords with metal blades, embedded in a high-tech polymer, that slice through woody material up to 3/8" thick!

A friend of mine with a big yard had a DRTrimmer & told me about it & told me if I got one that I would LOVE IT.. Well she was RIGHT. I ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT?? .. Took off the guard to get a closer cut on the fence line and was so happy to see that it was easy to use.. I finished my yard work in half the time.

Every time I use this trimmer I finish up by telling my husband that it was worth every penny and more. I has significantly reduced the time and effort to clean a meadow golden rod, milkweed, brambles, etc.. It is a pleasure to use and I find myself looking for more areas to clear. Electric start is WONDERFUL. I highly recommend this trimmer.

I just started using this trimmer. I'm 45 and have multiple sclerosis. I'm disabled, but with this mower I'm now able to trim my yard again. My yard is about 3/4 acre. It is light and much easier to push than lugging around my Honda G35 which I love, but I get tired too fast anymore. It cuts down almost anything I throw at it besides saplings I don't have the Beaver saw blade. I love this tool! Thank you DR!

One of the best purchases I have made.

A year ago my wife and I bought a 17 acre property. I hadn't mowed a lawn or run a weed eater in years. Nor had I ever used a riding lawnmower. Needless to say, keeping up with trimming around the fence lines was daunting. And, there were some hilly parts that ended up totally overgrown because they were too steep for the riding lawnmower. I bought this a couple of weeks ago, and it is a game changer! I can trim the entire fence line in no time. I was able to cut back all the overgrown areas. It starts on the first pull, every time. I love that I can stop the trimmer head from turning without shutting it off. I will confess that I first purchased another brand. I really wanted the DR, but the other brand was on sale and cheaper. It arrived broken. Never started. Returned it and bought the DR. The difference in quality and design was immediately apparent. I love it!

The mower is easy to set up and easy to start. Shredded the drive belt on the first day, however, and had to order a new one. May have been trying to do too much with it that caused it to break. It works quite well now that I have replaced the belt.

The machine works just as promised. In practice it mows weeds and tall grass effortlessly. even my wife now enjoys mowing tall weeds, without problems. The big plus is that small tree roots can also be eliminated, this was a big problem. Just wish instructions for belt break in were made sooner nd belt adjustment made clearer.

I like the lightweight and easy to maneuver the mower around the pond. I realized that it's not good in muddy area. If the wheel is caked up with mud, it's hard to move the mower. Dry land it moves great.

Gets the job done!
Posted by: Tony M from Coldwater, MI on 10/04/2018
Rating: Product Review Stars: 4.00 star rating
We recently bought a couple acres of land that is overgrown with tall weeds and small saplings. The green and blue cords both have worked well for taking down most of the weeds and the smaller saplings. Why not five stars? I ordered the Durablade kit for the larger saplings and it broke on the first use. I installed as shown in the directions and all three blades were decimated after using for about 3 minutes going through the same weeds that the cables handled without issue as well as some saplings that were maybe 1/2 in diameter. The blades also became wedged in the roller ball during use. Another issues I ran into was that the trimmer was not generating enough power initially. I rectified this by adjusting the cable for the belt engagement. I also found that regular cleanings of the air filter helps a lot!

This has to be the best purchase I’ve made in the past ten years! Went around the entire yard, through thick brush, and the strings never once broke! Works with such ease! The only regret is that I didn’t have one of these tools years ago. Life is so much easier now! Can’t even conceive the thought of using my old trimmer again, pulling electrical cords everywhere and having to fix broken strings about every 5 to 10 minutes. What a nightmare that was! But now I truly look forward to every time I use this trimmer! Thanks for an awesome product!!!!!

The 6.75 trimmer
Posted by: LEONARD K. from Capitan, NM on 09/11/2018
Rating: Product Review Stars: 5.00 star rating
The trimmer came in on time as promised. The instructions for the initial set up were very clear and specific. The first time I used it, there were some spots the trimmer kept skipping. Overall I was satisfied with it's performance. The second time I used it, was in a very thick grassy area about knee high. I had a very hard time getting it down. I noticed that the trimmer head stopped spinning. I took the manual and it explained how to tighten the trimmer belt. I adjusted it and I had a great trimmer to work with and I am a happy grass mower/trimmer. It would have been nice if this information about the trimmer head belt adjustment was given more to the beginning of the manual or at least indicated that it needs tightening shortly after first time using it and then refer to the instructions. Other then that I am a satisfied customer and can recommend it to anybody, looking for a reliable mower. Thanks Len

Use this for a 5 acre apple orchard in the high Sierras. Does a great job of cutting down the annual weeds and Sweet pea that grow around here. Recommend getting the quick change head as it is so much easier to change worn out strings plus it will take the heavy duty lines.

This was a gift for my husband. It is our second one. I thought the smaller one was all wore out, but he had about 40.00 worth of parts installed. He cleaned it all up and it runs like a new one as well. We have owned it for 30 years. It is a smaller one, so now he has two trimmer/mowers and he is very satisfied. Thank you for a United States Made Product.

My husband is so impressed with this mower/trimmer that I can't get my hands on it! After getting it he started using it immediately to trim areas around the new home we bought where grass around trees and areas close to the house had been neglected for years. The job it did was beyond his expectations. There is no way we could have gotten these results without this mower/trimmer & with such ease of operation. It works like a champ - works like a charm! Great purchase!!!

Trim Mower w/Electric Start
Posted by: Ray B. from Crown Point, IN on 08/29/2018
Rating: Product Review Stars: 4.00 star rating
A month ago, I purchased the 6.75 Premier Trimmer/Mower with electric start. The performance of the trim mower has met our expectations taking down two to three foot weed growth with ease. The only reason I did not give it five stars is that you need to manually monitor the charge time to the battery on the electric start model. The manual says not to charge more than 3 - 4 hours, which can be a headache to remember to unplug the charger after 3 hours! Really with today's battery and charging technologies! DR Power needs to address this issue.

Great machine - surprisingly lightweight - very easy to start - cuts through tall grass, etc. effortlessly. I was concerned when the box arrived damaged and retaped a few times. The styrofoam wasn't where it belonged and didn't provide much protection. However, the machine wasn't damaged - all parts were included, and it works fine. The machine is great - packaging and shipping not so good.

I own a DR Brush Mower, a Road Grader and now the Trimmer Mower. I can only say that this company makes a quality product and I look forward to many years of use based on past experience. I also just l just learned you are now affiliated with Generac. I also own a 22 kw Generac whole house Generator. I am very pleased with all my purchases. KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK.

My only complaint is the engine kind of Misses when it's unloaded. When I put a load on it and the string is spinning the engine is smoother. Not sure why it's doing that

I have been aware of these machines for years. Only wish I'd bought it years ago. Have used it three times so far and it's the best yard implement I've ever bought. I have an acre and a half yard with lots of grown-up fences in the back yard. This allows me to easily reclaim and maintain the edges of the yard. Love it.

Great trimmer mower
Posted by: Casey B. from Stanwood, MI on 08/22/2018
Rating: Product Review Stars: 4.00 star rating
The machine is great right out of the box. It will tear through some serious brush. It is extremely light in weight. The only issue I came across with the machine is that the trimmers operation bar sometimes sticks leaving the trimmer spinning when released. It’s happened a few times out of the 10 or so uses. Not a deal breaker. The turning ability is better than I thought it would be with two static wheels in the back, but I do wish it allowed for easier turning, particularly at angles. Great machine!

Nice Trimmer

I just got the 6.75 premier trimmer/mower. I did not like the standard cord attachment system when I tried it. Luckily I also bought the Quick-lock Trimmer Head after reading the reviews. The Premier trimmer with the quick lock head is the way to go. DR Power should make the quick lock head a standard item on their trimmer/mower line. I look forward to using it often.

Should have gotten this years ago. It is great.A quality product. Quick assembly. Detailed instructions and operators manual. Il liked this model with the fact that the trimmer head has a separate control, you can start and idle the engine without the trimmer head being engaged.. I highly recommend this DR is a quality line of products.

Have been using the trimmer from the day it arrived. Bit by bit our farm is beginning to look so neat and tidy. I find the trimmer is easy to use and I'm surprised at the size of the weeds it chews up. It is easy to maintain with a simple battery charger, etc. When I say it's easy to use..I am 78 yrs old and weigh all of 100lbs and if I can use it anyone can.

6.75 PREMIER, Electric-Starting
Posted by: Electra P. from Branford, FL on 08/17/2018
Rating: Product Review Stars: 5.00 star rating
Soaking the line is a must for ease of replacing. Love the electric start. The 6.75 did a good job. Kinda wish I would have gotten the self-propelled but, one less thing to go wrong with, later down the road. I did notice for me that the green 155mil line actually lasted longer than the blue 175mil. Will probably get the other quick lock head down the line. Out of the 25 you load, about 8-10 when you change the line. This machine sure does beat holding a gasoline weed eater. Have a Blessed Day.

I have about five hours on my new DR trimmer I use it to cut back tall grasses remove Ivy and other ground cover plants It works great it has plenty of power to do the job and once it’s ground it all up there’s really nothing to do because it just dries up and disappears When I first got it it took Paul to Paul‘s to start the engine ever since that time first pole always starts great ! Unfortunately it does not cut back blackberries they’re just too thick and too heavy but for most everything else and everything I got it for it works great I’m very happy

A Bigger Hammer
Posted by: Sid G. from AMARILLO, TX on 08/14/2018
Rating: Product Review Stars: 5.00 star rating
After my husband died and son moved away I was left with acres of trimming to do. I knew I couldn't manage by myself and couldn't afford to have it done. It took days for me to get all the trimming done with a conventional trimmer and by then it was time to start over. And since I didn't want to move, buying the DR trimmer was a no brainer. It is simple to start with the electric starter. Maneuvering would be easier with fatter tires but then I would have to keep them aired up. In two hours time I have it done instead of days. Sometimes all you need is a bigger hammer. I highly recommend this trimmer.

I bought my DR Trimmer two years ago to tackle one acre of Brambles, Briars, Blackberrys, various vines and weeds all up to ten feet in height. The trimmer handled it all an continues to keep it cleared throughout the last two years. This machine owes me nothing and if it quit now I would by another without hesitation however it is still running. It is a Work Horse.

Received the Premier trimmer a couple of weeks ago and could not believe how much easier it is to maintain the area around my cabin. It has cut the trimming time by at least half. It also allows me to trim the shoulders of our gravel road to keep the growth from closing in. One of the big benefits is that you do not have to keep replacing the line as you do with a conventional trimmer.

I broke or destroyed three major competitor's machine in about a week trying to clear a space for our new home. I bought a DR and completed the remaining 3/4 of the project without incident. I am still using that mower 6 years later to clear the remainder of the property. My mower is an older model of the 6.75 premier and I just love it. However, this new model has several improvements that make it even better. The shield has been extended out the left side to keep grass from winding around the left wheel - not a big problem on the older machine, but is still a time saver. The cutting swath is about 2 inches wider making an easier reach especially around fence posts. The deck has been reshaped so that the mower is now pushed in a straight line and still cuts to the left - the previous mower had a moveable left wheel to accomplish this adjustment. Still love my older machine, but this one a present for my daughter and family is even better. Had a chance to use it for a couple hours in tall grass and scrub and am totally pleased. The engine starts on the first pull every time, even after a winter break with fresh gas. My wife also enjoys using the mower and probably has about as many hours logged as I do.

Well made quiet and very powerful. Chews thru weeds like a string trimmer on steroids. Makes short work of weeds that are 3’ tall. The head with the quick change head is the way to go. The cord is long lasting. Trimmed 120’ of fence line in a half hour. Completed the entire property without having to reload cord. Cuts in trimming time in half. Very pleased but have only used it once. With the sale price it was great value for the money.

Highs and lows of my new premier dr trimmer

It's so light and maneuvers well on flat ground making it a little tricky around my bumpy raised beds but the bottom line is 5 months after rotated cuff surgery this 72 year old woman can trim her garden and yard. My only problem was that it wouldn't shut off. One call and I had a local repair shop sent by the parent company to pick it up and return it to me. I'm told that some of the Briggs and strategy motors painted over the contacts. A simple fix and soon I will be trimming again.

Our terrain that we are using this machine on has lots of rocks and uneven ground. The tires that came with the machine are hard to handle on our terrain. I think if the machine had pneumatic tires instead of the hard plastic ones it would handle the terrain better. It would be nice if you offered a optional pneumatic tire. I’ve taken a wheel off and taken measurements of the axle and I’m trying to locate a pneumatic tire replacement.

The only way to trim!

Rating: Product Review Stars: 5.00 star rating
I love my DR Trimmer/Mower. I live on about 8/10 of an acre lot, and there is quite a bit of trimming to do. My lot was previously woods and fields, so there are lots of small trees and briars growing up all over the yard. When I had my lot graded and planted grass seed, heavy storms washed gullys in it both times. I selected the model with electronic start because I am older and didn't want to have to start with a pull string. It starts right up every time. The large wheels make it easy to maneuver on rough ground. The string is easy to insert and there are several settings to choose from. My DR Trimmer/Mower lets me get the trimming done in no time compared to how long it took me to do it with a regular weed whacker.

Does a good job first time out. But I did not read instructions about how to mow May need to go over 2x in real heavy stuff, expect some belt slippage, and how to adjust tension on belt. That is a Must do as belt needed tighting first 100 feet in 3’ grass. Easy adjustment. Then worked good. Overall nice machine. Easy manual start/stop. The clutch drive to the trimmer head is a must for me. If I had a lot more area I would go for next model or two up to get more power, or get the brush mower. But this is perfect for clearing path around pond 3 or 4 times a year, and general trimming.

Having used my Father-in-laws DR Trimmer, I was familiar with the product. After extensive comparisons to other walk behind string trimmers, the conclusion is that the DR Trimmer is the best choice...easy starting, excellent balance makes using the DR Trimmer easy to use and move around. There are still areas that require a hand held string trimmer, but those area are significantly reduced when using the DR Trimmer as the primary string trimmer.

Got it last week. So far,so good. I've had 11 surgeries, 3 of them were back with a 4th coming up. So I decided to buy this trimmer & I wished I bought it a lot sooner. I just loved it after my 1st use. We have 10 acres, 6 of them I mow and have a lot of trimming to do. Great for around all those trees and my trails. Plan on buying the blade for it too, have lots of smaller trees to take out. Yes, this Granny would buy it again but, hope it last a long time so, I don't have too.

The machine itself works well on hard flat ground to cut tall weeds. However the wheels/tires are too THIN.. On soft ground, they sink into the ground especially when you try to turn. It's difficult to use on any s!ope because it becomes TOP heavy even less than 20 degrees. Needs wider tires or ballon tires. Are there any available

Product was in good shape when it arrived but the directions for getting it to start were horrible. After 1 hour of trying everything we called customer service. The tech guy saved the day and agreed the directions were not written clearly. Once we got it running the product is worth the money. Easy to use and does the job. Suggest the directions to adjust tension to engage the blade be updated to make sense.

Excellent upgrade

Rating: Product Review Stars: 5.00 star rating
The original Tecumseh engine version of the power trimmer needed an upgrade and the 6.75 Premier was the only way to go. Best performance bang for the buck. The shipping box it came in only had one rather thin flimsy strip of tape sealing top and bottom and the tape did not survive its journey on the UPS truck what does and consequently the tape on both sides top & bottom split and the internal package containing the wheel nuts and manual must have fallen out along the way and were not in the box. A few more strips of thicker sealing tape is in order would prevent that situation. Otherwise, killer product and price.

Lawn mower always throwing rocks, breaking windows, breaking blades, so I purchased the DR trimmer to get to the areas I could not with the lawn mower. Too much for a hand held weed eater. Only used it once, however was pleased with the performance.

The first day we used it worked fantastic. The morning of the second day the mower ball would hardly turn. Had to disassemble the unit to find out what the problem was. A very small piece of stem had gotten up inside, between the belt and the tension unit. reassembled the unit it worked fine. went and exchanged the string unit with the Dura Blades. The Dura Blades were a disappointment. They were barely able the cut what they were intended to cut, small brambles that were not bigger than a pencil lead. Put the mower ball back on and everything worked fine.

Was very easy to set up and use the day it arrived. Only challenge was Getting the regular head off to put the Quick Lock Head Kit on in its place. Even my husband had trouble loosening the head. Loved that no priming was necessary and it started up first pull. Can't believe what this could power through with the heavy cord. Have not tried the blade kit as yet, but it will definitely get plenty of use near the edges of the woods.

Trimmer drive mechanism problematic
Posted by: Todd Marshall from PLANTERSVILLE, TX on 04/27/2018
Rating: Product Review Stars: 5.00 star rating
In less than a month I have had two issues with the drive mechanism. First, the belt became loose and wouldn't drive after very little use. I was told how to tension it ... I somehow skipped over that section of the manual. And then this morning it threw the drive belt. Looked like the belt had flipped over ... fraying the back ... and a key center rib thread was torn loose and severed. In repairing, oil from sump leaked through air intake and now won't start. I'm giving it time to drain. Otherwise, I couldn't be happier with the machine. The method of holding the trimmer media is wonderful.

I have a heavily sloped yard, and hoped this device would make mowing easier. While it is marginally lighter than my mower, cutting is very uneven, and I found i needed to go over areas at least twice for a reputable cut.
Response from DR SupportHello Robert, thank you for taking the time to write a review of you Premier Trimmer Mower. These units are not designed to be used as a replacement for your normal lawn mower. They are designed to be used in place of a hand-held Trimmer. The oversized wheels make it easy to maneuver around objects, such as flower beds, trees, and outbuildings.

As most people are... I'm always Leary of buying online. Not only was I impressed, I was in awe. The 6.75 hp Briggs and Stratton engine starts on the very first pull, no priming or anything special. The trimmer string is so good I haven't had to replace it yet. after 2 weeks of heavy use I am 59 years old and have had several surgeries so I can no longer fight with my Toro trimmer, even with the electric start. Best purchase I have made in a long time. I even delayed ordering the Beaver blade kit until I made sure I was pleased with the DR.I give this trimmer an A.

Picked this up last spring. Starts super easy every time. Works effortlessly all day. The design for the line needs to be looked at. If you wear down the line, it's fine to change out. If the line snaps off at the housing, you will curse up and down to get the old line out. The downtime getting the old line out ducks.

Bought the machine and received 12/2017 also bought the beaver blade kit. 1st time out belt burned up even though I had adjusted it by the book. Called support they sent a new belt suspected wrong belt was installed during assembly. Recieved belt was same as the one that came with machine. Installed belt and adjusted used machine again with same result belt burned up and came off again. Called support they had me take it to a shop to be checked. Shop stayed all parts were on machine they did not know much about the machine they told me. Shop called support and they were told nothing they could do belts were wear items and not warranty. So I called support they told me the same thing. I ask what I needed to do to send machine back they said I should keep it return shipping I would be responsible for and it would not be cheap. So now I have a machine I have to replace belts every time I use it. I have the same machine but a lot older and it has larger belt and bigger pullies and does not have this problem. I bought a rebuilt one and when it arrived I had some concern about a part. I notified DR and within an hour or two they responded. I could send it back, take it to a local repair depot they pay or they would send me a new part. I opted for the new part and it quickly arrived. I have acres of brush mainly small trees 1/4 inch to 3 inches and vines and the cord did a fair job. I sent some pictures and I quickly got a response that the Beaver Blade would take care of all of my issues. I ordered the blade and put it on. Wow, it is incredible and cuts up everything. I use the blade for the initial clearing and then the cord for clean up. The cord does a great job shredding leaves too I am very happy with the product and the excellent service provided.

I bought this to replace my hated, painful to use, handheld string trimmer. What a joy this is. I got the "trimsafe" which makes trimming around a 3 acre wire-fenced yard, fast and easy. I've spent around 3 hrs with it trimming and clearing some over grown areas and am only on my 3rd set of strings. 1st two were green, now blue. The Quick Lock Trimhead really speeds string changing up. I no longer hate trimming.

I needed a wheeled string trimmer because my back kills me with my hand helds. I have a hand held with a blade and another with a string. My 5 acres got very out of hand this year. After my last horse passed and due to other sad events my paddock grass grew taller than me as did a lot of my pasture. I bought the DR trimmer when I got tried of waiting on my raincheck for a wheeled trimmer at the brick and mortar store. I have to say it is the best purchase I have ever made! The strings are so strong. I mowed through a LOT of high and thick brush and the string was still going strong. My durablades came in a few weeks later. I put them on the other day which allows me to get through the thicker stuff even faster. I did get the 12 inch blade as well to cut down the thicker saplings. It's a monster! I was shocked when I opened the box when it arrived. I can't wait to put that on now to see what it eats through. My husband passed recently so it's just me and I've been overwhelmed with the yard work ahead of me. With my new DR Wheeled String Trimmer I am not worried at all now. I can use it for hours without my back hurting at all. It's great and I'm super happy with this purchase! I'd recommend it to anyone!!!! Oh and I got the manual string pull start. It started on the first pull when I initially put the gas and oil in and it has started on the first pull since. I love it!!!

Better than I expected. Mowed over one-half of my designated area using the smallest cord and the cord still looked exactly as it started out. The machine slapped sticks and pine cones completely out of the way and mowed thick weeds much better than I expected.

I am 66 years old and consider myself fit and able to perform all landscaping chores on my 1.25 acre lot located on a South Carolina barrier island. I biggest landscaping challenge was trimming the vegetation which sloped down each side of my gravel driveway. I could not use a lawnmower because the gravel contained rocks and ruined my lawnmower blade after each cut. So I was forced to utilize a weed wackier , the problem is I have 2000 feet of driveway weeds to cut. With the 90* weather it took me 3 backbreaking hours to perfor the work, which I had to cut every 3 weeks, April Through October. I received my DR 2 weeks ago , immediately put it through its paces. I cut the driveway in 45 minutes not even breaking a sweat. The DR machine is a simple fantastic machine. I have every lawn machine and tool you can think of, and with any reservation my DR is at the top of the list.

The trimmer arrived in a big box. I merely had to put on the tires, thread the line, and fill it with oil, then gas. Inserting the spiral line was not hard. I had debated about buying the "easy replacement thread head" at extra cost. I am glad I did not. I do not need it. The manual start engine roared on the second pull. The trimmer cut a wide swath. The wheels allow easy maneuverability. This product makes trimming very easy.

This is the fourth DR I have owned in the last 30 years. I have also owned 2 Craftsman and 1 Earthquake. The trimmer string holder is far better than any of the others. Otherwise the quality of the Chraftsman and DR are about the same. The Earthquake is not even close to the quality of the DR. I live in the Ozarks where there are plenty of rocks. I mow about two acres with the DR. I it does an excellent job of mowing around rocks and stumps. It also does a good job on sprouts up to a quarter inch. Your tech support is also the best.

This is a great tool on the ranch. no more weed eater for me. This is the baddest thing i could invest in. It cut my time in half weed eating along the fence line and just clearing places i can't get with a mower.i have been wanting one for a while, and finally just got tired of using the hand held ones. this think is great and easy to start, light weight, and not to hard changing the string. the blue line is best for taking down weeds and grass. best investment i have made in a long time. wished i would have bought one sooner. no more shoulder pain from carrying and hand held weed eater. buy one and you will see what I'm talking about. spent 6 hours clearing around the ranch and I'm not wore out like i had been with a hand held weed eater. Im in my sixties and this makes weed eating fun.

Weed Whacking Made Much Easier

A light powerful machine which always starts on the first pull . It was a revelation for cleaning up irrigation pipe and windbreak unwanted growth . A wonderful piece of equipment ! I would give it 5+ stars except I could not get the mower ball off to install the quick line change package . So I used it with the standard line holder and it worked terrific . The line was pretty easy to install when wet and using a little help from pliers . It was lightweight , efficient and easy to use . as far as my quick change line issue , I have been given help by a very caring person from DR tech support . I will try her suggested method next job , but the line change is not as challenging as one of the earlier reviews made it sound .I did 2000 ft of waist high alfalfa and grass without significant wear on the line using the blue cord . I recommend this unit !

The mower is easy to set up and operate. I have had one before. My wife had no experience with the machine and, in minutes, she was running the mower. The only way I could get her to stop is when it ran outta gas. The mower is good but with high grass, it has to be DRY. If it's green, the strings will not cut it. the mower ball will bind up and wear your belt out, real quick. Had it a week and had to replace the belt. That being said, the wife and I had the mower apart in about 10 minutes, belt replaced, and back to whacking weeks. All in all, it's worth the money. But remember, its a string trimmer, not a brush cutter.

IT DOES THE JOB
Posted by: dan p. from Sumner, TX on 09/28/2017
Rating: Product Review Stars: 4.00 star rating
It does the job, but.... 1. Without the quick change attachment the trimming string is not fun to change 2. The quick change attachment has a tendency to pull the string out a bit, so be sure you push enough through the channel so that you have plenty to pull on when changing the string. It may seem like a waste but taking the quick change module apart to remove a worn string is a pain. 3. Putting the pull cord up on the handle bar (like my Husqvarna mower) would be a great back saving modification. All that being said it is an awesome tool. I have cleared over an acre since I got it. My son and I take turns, one rakes one clears. It is a little slower than a mower but a lot less work. I am clearing a treed pasture with weeds and grass about hip high. We keep the pruning shears close because while the trimmer will cut through thumb size stalks it does use up the cord quicker.

The Dr Trimmer is a great machine, easy setup, easy start, excellent results. I would be ecstatic with my purchase if I had purchased the "self propelled" model. I am 5' 2" and it's exerting to maneuver uphill. Bad mistake on my part. If your terrain isn't flat consider getting the self propelled model. I certainly wish I had it would have been worth the extra money. Choose wisely...I wish I had.

I have largish patch of weed land, too rough for a standard mower and too large for a hand held weed wacker. I did a google search and the DR product came up, I read the reviews and decided to role the dice and go for it. I am so happy with this purchase. The product was delivered in two days and all I had to do was to add oil, fuel and the heavy duty strings. With one pull the engine started and iin no time at the weeds were gone. The job used to take me about 6 hrs with my handheld string trimmer. With the DR it was done in just over an hour. The heavy duty strings lasted for the duration and they look good enough for anothe couple of cuts. I love the product so far and recommend it. I was worried that it might be too big for my application, but it's no bigger than a walk behind mower and it's perfect size. This product is not really good for steep slope (15 degrees or more).- it's too heavy to push up hill and pushing downhill is almost impossible to keep control. I use my hand held for the slope.

I have been unhappy with the trimmer. The twine breaks to easy. The belt is too long. I have put second belt on and it is already adjusted all the way out after one hour of operation.

Frustrated with product support
Posted by: Robert B. from Pueblo West, CO on 09/06/2017
Rating: Product Review Stars: 3.00 star rating
I purchased the trimmer/mower 3 weeks ago based on the product reputation and my need for a robust machine to cut down the weeds on my newly purchased 1 acre yard. After the first few hours of operation, the belt that drives the mower ball stretched so much that it could not be tightened using the instructions in the manual. I requested help from customer service and was sent the wrong belt twice. The issue was finally resolved yesterday when the local service center ordered the proper belt and installed it. The trimmer/mower performed as advertised after this. My frustration is not with the product but with the technical support.
Response from DR SupportHello, Robert. We're sorry that you've had this experience but thank you for bringing it to our attention. Here at DR Power, we want to make sure our customers are receiving the best service, which includes ensuring the correct parts are shipped out. Without customer feedback like yours, we wouldn't know that there has been a problem, we greatly appreciate it and hope that you experience no further frustrations or issues.

It is everything I expected w/ the performance of this piece of machinery. The only thing I am having a small problem w/ is the cutting cord installation. Do you install 2 cords or one? And how do you secure them so that they won't slip off? I must be overlooking a small procedure on this notice. Over all I am very pleased w/ your product. Thank you for your service!
Response from DR SupportThank you for taking the time to write a review of your new Walk-Behind Trimmer, we're so happy to hear you're enjoying it.

Here is a great video on the Trimmer. If you jump to the one minute mark, you'll find a great explanation of how to install the cutting cord. Please give us a call if you have other questions. You have life time tech support with your DR Trimmer.

5 stars on the machine itself. The cutting strings, not so much. It started off like a banshee in tall grass, but when I got to a little bigger grass and somewhat bigger weeds, the strings either break or pull out. I admit the first couple sets was right out of the package without letting them sit in water. But later, after soaking, same deal. Good thing I ordered a roll of string. I'll probably order a different head. Have to wait and see how these do.

Power seems low - might be the altitude

I'm very happy with the quality of the mower, and very pleased that the motor starts very easily and the setup is simple. My only concern is that the mower seems to have very little power - but that's probably due to the altitude here in New Mexico (7500 ft.). I'm having a local shop adjust the engine, and hope that will fix the issue.

I have a 16 tear old Dr Trimmer that finally wore out its parts. Ordering this new one was quite a change in body design and to be fair I chose the lower end model. My new Briggs engine compared to the Kawasaki is decent but noticeably less power. The trim ball is 30% smaller. The cut is good for residential use. Taming 5 acres as the earlier model did doesn't equate to the same power and toughness for this model. I'm satisfied with the unit so far. It isn't getting the abuse of the prior unit. Again, for residential homes and garden areas this is a beauty. It's light to push and easy to control. 4 stars for this one.

The 6.75 Trimmer/Mower arrived in a timely manner. From box to operating was simple. Yet the paper instructions were not nearly as helpful (especially on the installation of the cord). But Youtube came to the rescue and within 60 seconds had issue solved). I bought the Quick lock head kit and the sawtooth cord and this machine is amazing. I cleared out nearly an acre of bramble and old undergrowth with amazing results. I would buy again without hesitation.

I had a few problems at first but I got the problems worked out. It appears my belt was not tight enough and the machine wasn't able to cut like they say it will. I called customer service and I then took it by an authorized repair technician close by and he said it was doing fine but it might need the belt tightened. I then took it back home and tightened the belt and it cuts fantastic. I purchased both the saw tooth cord, orange cord, and blue cord but I also purchased the Dura-blades and the Beaver Blade. We have tried them all out and the machine works great. I would like to have had the big machine but instead I purchased the smallest one but it does fine for what I need it for around our little 5 acres.

Upon adding oil and gas and putting the cords in I pulled the cord once and voila, it started up with the first pull! It proceeded to cut through some tuff brush without it getting tangled like a hot knife through butter. An amazing product. If I had money in the bank I'd buy more of their products. This is so easy to wheel around instead of carrying a long-handled hand held gas trimmer this made life SO MUCH EASIER! Couldn't be happier.

Just what the DR ordered!
Posted by: Karsten S. from Hawthorne, FL on 08/15/2017
Rating: Product Review Stars: 5.00 star rating
Not only did this trimmer mower cut our 2 foot high and super thick grass and the neighbor's aggressively-spreading woody bushes on the first outing, but the high maneuverability of this trimmer's design with the optional trimmer guard allows me to cut the yard in almost half the time of my riding mower -- and the fence lines look way better. This is partly because we have so much fence line, trees, and pool equipment for me to navigate around. But it is also partly because the blue string cuts the denser grass in our year so much more easier than any of our bladed mowers. So far I've been able to use the same two blue cords for 3 jobs, and the first was a real doozy.

This mower trimmer is really easy to handle and it attacks weeds and tall grass like a wild animal. I have no regrets about buying it. If and when I ever ware it out a new DR trimmer mower will be ordered. I like the fact that it was delivered to my door. Another thing was all I had to do was add oil, gas, and put the strings on it. Then with one pull it started up. Now that is total satisfaction.....

After several difficulties that the factory and I worked out, I finally used the trimmer and found that it is every bit as advertised and surprisingly easy for me to handle ,even though 100 % disabled. It easily mows around the pine trees as intended for use; it is clean and easy. The only draw back is the string is not as tough as I would like, But ,I am not as tough anymore as I would like either. Good buy, good product. THANKS

DR Premier is a beast

Rating: Product Review Stars: 5.00 star rating
I had to remove 2 acres of very tall weeds and green briar thorny weeds and the trimmer simply tore through the mess without a hitch. I will say the green line is best. The heavier duty rope blue line breaks too easily. The green lasted much longer. For those two acres I only had to change the line six times. If anyone knows how tough green-briar is, this was very impressive to only change line six times. This machine is a beast.Changing the line is very easy too.

I received the mower in a well packed heavy box, I added oil and gas. To my delight it started on the first pull, I did a test area to see how it would handle the brush and weeds, it takes a bit for the cord to start working at it's best. I think it needs to develop a rough edge or barbs but only takes 20-30 feet of mowing. Have not used it in deep rough areas because it has been a super hot summer and saving that job until it cools down a bit. I have always been a big fan of Honda motors but now I rate the Briggs and Stratton as good if not better, the motor is very quiet and seems to run at just a high idle speed yet does not get bogged down in heavy grass.

The machine is not heavy to handle, which is good. I got the quick change head attachment and the heaviest cord. I used it in an area of long grass and briars. The briars were the thickness of my little finger. The resulting mowing was effective, and to my surprise the cords did not need replaced and showed only slight wear on the ends. Nice job DR.

Just frustrating that when you follow directions given that you have this kind of problem.

DR6.75 Premier, Manual Starting
Posted by: Ian from Bridger Valley, WY on 07/05/2017
Rating: Product Review Stars: 4.00 star rating
Easy start. Heavy grass (as tall as hay, some chest high) I went through a full tank of gas without having to change the chord. Takes out this year's willow sprouts. Last year's willows break the chord. Won't take out burdocks with chord. I experimented with some (2/3 length) braided steel cable which, in combo with the regular chord, this tended to turn the tool into a mulcher that eats up the tall grass instead of tossing it aside. Biggest complaint is with the loose belt, which slipped easily and fell off the pulleys several times. Belt seemed to be oversized. This belt worked when I treated it with no-slip dressing. I liked how I could turn the tool upside-down or sideways to work on it without flooding the engine or spilling gas.

Weeds and brush beware

Rating: Product Review Stars: 5.00 star rating
The DR Trimmer has exceeded my expectations. I have mowed down about an acre of tall grass 2-3 feet tall in my orchard. Then I set out to tackle blackberries. Just using the nylon braided string I was able to reduce about half an acre of blackberries to mulch in less than 2 hours. I was astonished how well the DRTrimmer destroyed the thick canes and long vines. The area looks like the infestation of blackberries was never there. The machine completely mulches the canes into pulp -even the dry dead ones. I also have the blade attachment and the speed quick load spindle. Both work great. I have been contemplating one of these machines for a long time and I am very glad I finally purchased one. Couldn't be happier. I unpacked it from the shipping box put some fuel in and fired it up on the second pull. Now it starts on the first pull every time. If you are thinking of getting one- do it you will be glad you did. It is actually fun to use as well unlike a gas weed eater. Power up and cut away my friends!

Premier trimmer mower
Posted by: H.R. M. from Seagoville, TX on 06/25/2017
Rating: Product Review Stars: 5.00 star rating
Have only had this excellent Premier trimmer for 2 weeks and don't know how we managed without it. Trimming high grass in a bar ditch is much easier than a hand held trimmer. Trimmed along fence line toward our pond and around the pond with ease. Grass and weeds 20" tall. Wish we had purchased one sooner but by waiting we got the latest improvements. Looked at all the other brands, some more expensive some less. Many were direct drive, head spins as soon as it is started. Many had less than desirable line attachment and height adjustment. If you are considering a walk behind trimmer mower it should be a DR, 30 years experience with proven solid design features, throttle control, belt drive with clutch system to stop the head and leave the motor running, safe and convenient. DR done right all the way. Don't let the cheaper brands over ride the quality of the DR. Spend a little more and get the best.

Just got my second DR Trimmer/Mower when the first one gave out after "only" 20 years of hard service. During that 20 years there were several features I wished the first machine had. DR has listened and added these features so the new machine is now a HUGE improvement. It was, as advertised, ready to go right out of the box. I find the added improvements and quality of the product to be first rate. I highly recommend this machine. BTW -- I have several items of DR equipment. Over the past 20 years I have had numerous dealings with both DR's tech support and parts department. They have always been very supportive and very speedy on getting needed advice or maintenance components delivered to me.

Easy assembly right out of the box. Added oil and gas as instructed by owner manual. Threaded in 2 of the supplied blue lines and it started right up on first pull. Threading cutting lines was easy. Cut through tall thick back yard water stream steep bank growth for two hours, it wore me out! Cutter lines show minimum wear. This Premier model is a very strong machine, does exactly what DR advertises.. Thank you DR!

IMPRESSIVE PERFORMANCE

Rating: Product Review Stars: 5.00 star rating
My first time with using any kind of a trimmer mower. I chose the DR over the others due to their reputation. So I get the basic Premier trimmer. I didn't want to pay a whole lot not being sure of what this thing can really do. Let me tell you; I put this through the wringer to see how it would stand up. I had to clear about 1/2 acres of dense overgrowth and vines and go around several trees that spread broken sticks and branches throughout. Tried to clear much of the larger sticks by hand but there were still so many left lying around. So I begin trimming away. It trims away tall grass and alike like butter. Several times I would unintentionally come in contact with a tree along with sticks lying about. It would through the sticks and strip the bark off the trees. It was hard to be too careful so I didn't worry about it. I was using the blue chord. I stopped several times to check the cord and It would still be fine. Holy Cow! I would say to myself, I can't believe it. The abuse I put it through and the cord is still fine. I thought for sure I'd be replacing out the cord at least once. I mowed for 3 hours and there was just some minor fraying of the cord at the ends when I was done. It actually chewed up several small vine bushes. In the end, I ended clearing quite a bit more than was planned. The unit glides very smoothly, very easy to maneuver. The ball showed no wear, another thing I had wondered about. No need to worry about the ball being in contact with the ground. I am very pleased and impressed with this trimmer. I have since ordered the quick release trimmer head. The standard head is very good however, the blue cord was a little hard to push in but it does hold securely. No other concerns. I made a study of its structure. It will be very easy to maintain such as replacing the belt and clean.

What took me so long to make a good choice.......

This for me is an excellent product, out of the box all checked out fine, I look at each bolt nut and screw and check to make sure it is as should be, found absolutely nothing out of order, period. Was three (3) days after receipt before using, I purchased the quick change head (good $ spent) the string package (to find out what type worked the best for my needs (the blue twist cord is the best overall). Added oil, gas, installed the quick change head, added string to the head and went to work (used the break-in steps suggested by the manual for the belt break in) and started to work. Took time to get a method that works for me around my hog wire (stay tite-50) fence and I was in business. Used the machine for four (4) days about 3 to 4 hours per day and had no issues of any type (except maybe my short between the handle to my hands to may brain ha, ha sometime). I also purchased the line caddie and that is a step saver to be able to change the cord out quicker. This thing mounts directly to the handle on the side. The quick change head plus the line caddie is an absolute must, it is a good value added part to the total system, the DR Trimmer is of good quality and this as an addition makes it a top notch work tool. I wish I had made this purchase years ago, when and if this machine wears out I will, I say I will get another. I am on the other side of 70 and this walker is much, much better than the swinging, shoulder pulling back breaking line trimmer for me at this point of my life, I always ask my self would I do that again and the DR Trimmer with the quick change head and the answer is YES! I don't know what took me to long to make a good decision.......purchase the DR Trimmer System IT WORKS!

This DR unit replaced another brand trimmer and is so superior in ease of use. I initally had trouble loading the string but soaked the line in warm water to make the string more flexible and that really helped. The mower starts with one pull and cuts thru tall weeds with ease and is lightweight. As a 76-years-old, 95 lb. woman and avid gardener, I am delighted with this unit.

I had bought a Swisher model and it does not compare at all....on the trimmer string if you cut end at a angle, it's easier to slip thru...very pleased....Cheryl

Pretty much all you hear is the whizzing strings. I also upgraded to the beaver blade and it sounds like a table saw. So the motor is quiet. The motor does not idle smoothly but seems to have plenty of power. The installation of the beaver blade includes installation of a spindle brake. Longer bolts should be provided for this installation. Customer service stated that one or two threads should hold. That is why this is not a five star rating.

After getting the replacement belt for the trimmer mower, I installed the belt according to the instructions in the manual which was very easy to do, started it up, and it works great. It really shreds the dense weeds I had growing up along the fence line on the property like a hot knife through butter. I use the orange 225 mil saw tooth cord on my trimmer mower and it really does the job.

We are senior citizens with a large acreage to maintain by ourselves, which is becoming increasingly difficult. The DR trimmer/mower replaces a traditional string trimmer and is used in conjunction with a riding lawn tractor. We opted for the quick lock head and the electric start. That also allows my wife to independently use the DR. She says, "it's wonderful," and she has certainly put it to challenging tasks.

Aside from a bit of oil spillage during transit, this unit arrived in good order. I put it to work right away, and it has performed admirably in clearing a couple acres of open field. String retention was especially good. This was a problem that plagued my older DR trimmer. Not so here. .155 line has been sufficient for everything I've encountered so far.

I have a long camp road to keep open, and this thing is way easier than a handheld trimmer. Murders high grass and weeds. Needs some help on brush over 5/16". I put a chainsaw 7" wheel on my handheld to clean up what the DR won't get. I'm using the sawtooth line, which I recommend. 6.75 engine got a little weird the first time I used it. It would run well for a while, then lose power and quit. Restarted ok, and after a while, was ok again. Was much better after about 3 hours of use. I'm also using no ethanol gas.

I have now had this mower for four seasons and I am ready to review it. I own a farm with a pond and use this to clear fences and mow down overgrown areas. Overall, it is a disappointment. The mower does not work well on slopes because of its high center of gravity and tends to tip over, so it has to be manhandled. And I have had it serviced several times by a qualified mechanic but it keeps stopping about an hour into mowing. I have to let it sit for a while before it will get going again. This is an inconvenience because I have a limited amount of time to mow and an equipment failure is irritating. There is no way this could be used for commercial purposes. If I had to do it over I am not sure I would buy it.

I have used my DR mower/trimmer on my acre and a third property in places my lawn tractor cannot go. These places include along a stream, stone and wooden rail fences, and by the road. I have also used it in my garden. The blue trimmer line makes short work of nearly any weed. The machine is surprisingly light weight and can easily go in my minivan. The pull starter works great. I have made a good purchase.

What a machine. I'm clearing an old field that has grown up in briars, blackberries, and trees. The waist high grass goes down easily at a slow walk. The briars go down slowly using the recommended 'vacuum cleaner' method but they sure do go down. Trees too, up to about pinky size. I'm using the quick lock head with the sawtooth line and it eats it up and spits it out. Taking out the larger stuff with the beaver blade. I've cleared about 2/3 acre over two days. This is stuff that's taller than me and generally impassable. I can't see more than five feet into it until I mow it down. I'm impressed with the capability of this machine.

I wish I had this trimmer years ago! It work great! On the first day I got it, I spent 4 hours cutting back all my weeds on my 5 acre property that have been growing for years. I am a 62 year old woman and using a hand held weed whacker was too much for me. This is the answer to my prayers. It was easy for me to use. I highly recommend this product.

Workhorse

Rating: Product Review Stars: 5.00 star rating
I've worked this mower hard since getting last fall--clearing fence lines, overgrown areas, field edges. Unbelievable what it will eat through--blackberries, small saplings, bittersweet, but also able to deal with finicky stuff like ground brambles that ordinary mowers won't reach. And, it seldom spatters anything back at me (have even mowed back some poison ivy with it--less problem than with a standard lawn mower, and I'm very allergic). Easy to install the cords, so far easy to service, light enough that I can get it into my truck single-handed (and while I'm a "farm girl" I'm no spring chicken anymore!) Hope it lasts as long as I do!

6.75 Permier Trimmer/Mower
Posted by: Bob B. from Ronceverte, WV on 07/15/2016
Rating: Product Review Stars: 4.00 star rating
I've had this mower for several seasons now and over all is it like all DR products. Durable and well priced.Starts first or second pull every time. I purchased the quick lock trimmer head after one summer and its a worthy addition to the mower. The good is that this mower will cut down just about any weeds you can push it into. Trimming around fences is a breeze. The only downside I have found it that this mower is not very good for mowing on any type of hillside. Since the mowing ball is always turning any attempt to mow on even the slightest grade will result in the mower wanting to track down the hill. The only way you can mow is up and down and that's not always practical. I purchased an all wheel drive push mower this summer and I find it to be more useful than this trimmer in all but the highest weed situations. As they say..just one mans opinion.. I could be wrong

Good trimmer, but one throttle assembly issue
Posted by: John S. from Centuria, WI on 07/14/2016
Rating: Product Review Stars: 4.00 star rating
I purchased this trimmer in 2013, and so far have been very satisfied with it. However, recently when I was starting it and moving the throttle lever from the start position, it snapped off. The throttle had always seemed difficult to move, especially from the start position. I ordered a new assembly, and when I received it, I checked it for movement. It moved freely to the stop position, but when I moved it to the start position, it seemed to lock up. I could not get it to move without applying more force than I felt was safe. To determine the problem, I popped open the old assembly, and the problem was obvious. There is a cam molded into the housing, with a detent at the start position. There is a cam follower molded into the throttle lever disc that follows the cam (I don't know the reason for the cam except to possibly supply friction to the throttle lever or possibly just for "feel"). The problem is that the shape of the cam follower is such that when it drops into the detent at the start position, it requires excessive force to get it back out (very poor design). I filed off the cam follower, both depth and angle (on the old assembly) until it was a lot easier to disengage from the detent. This seemed to work great, so I repeated the process on the new assembly. When I installed it on the trimmer, everything works great. There is no longer the resistance encountered before. Has anyone else experienced this problem?

I mowed a large orchard at our farm with heavy grass and weeds waist high,no problem. My neighbor saw me and borrowed it for a week, loves it also. I also bought the quick change string head which I will install once I use all my standard string.

For years I have struggled to clear the brush behind our house. We have a big yard but the brush is trying to take over. I never knew there was a mower like this. After it's arrival I carefully read all the instructions and set out to try it. This machine has no quit in it. I mowed through brush, grass, pickers, nettles, thorny brush, and small sumac trees (really sprouts) like a hot knife through butter. It is amazing to see this trimmer literally suck the brush in and spit it out. I smiled at every picker bush it ate up. They are no longer going to grab me when I mow. I love this machine like no other. This machine seems indistructable. At one point in the heavy brush it made a different sound. I stopped and the machine was quickly back to normal. I had to stop about 30 seconds later any way, so I took a moment to look under the deck. This thing ate up a 6 foot piece of barbed wire and barely wrinkled its nose. It is light weight, easy to use and maintain and I just love it. Being a woman and almost 60 years old I find that one of the features I like best is the size of the gas tank. I fill it up before I start trimming/cutting. I find that the gas tank on the mower and my gas tank both empty at about the same time. So we both get a rest. It is a workhorse and I would encourage anyone to purchase this machine. My neighbors have also been amazed. When I tell them that I bought the smallest model (what I call the "girly girl" model they are stunned at the work it has done. I just love it.

I really like my DR Trimmer. We use it with the blade attachment and have been clearing property with it. It easily cuts small trees and saplings. Starts every time on the first pull. the only complaint I have is the packaging it arrived in. Delivery driver dropped on its side, causing damage to Trimmer. Packaging needs to be more sturdy...however, when I called , I received excellent customer service and the problem was fixed to my satisfaction. Thanks!

This is one mowing machine. It takes down three foot high weeds without a problem. It started on the second pull right out of the box. I like the large gas cap which allows you to fill the tank without spilling. The string appears to never wear out. I mowed over one acre and I couldn't see any noticeable wear. I ordered and installed the weed guard since I have over 100 small trees that I didn't want to damage. The guard provides a safety factor and does not inhibit mowing. For very tall weeds it is recommended that you remove he guard. The guard can be removed or installed in about 10 seconds. The only negative thing was that the axle was bent when I received it. That was a shipping problem and not a machine problem. The company replaced it for free. If you have weeds you need this machine. It pushes easier than my lawn mower.

Review of dR trimmer mower
Posted by: TERRANCE H. from Pueblo West, CO on 06/07/2016
Rating: Product Review Stars: 5.00 star rating
When my trimmer mower arrived the axle was bent. Apparently this happened during shipment. I contacted DR and a new axle was sent free of charge. After I installed the new axle I started to cut weeds and so far I am very impressed with the DR trimmer mower. It cuts weeds really well and so far I have just used the lighter green cord. The trimmer mower is lightweight and moves very easily on the large 14" wheels. The Briggs & Stratton engine started on the first pull with the engine cool after I had put in the oil and gasoline. It starts well with the engine cool or hot. But I will not follow the engine manufacturer advice to just add the correct amount of oil and then just add oil when needed. I will change oil after the first 5 hours and at least every 25 hours after that. The two older wheeled weed trimmers I have owned that were made by another company were heavier and did not roll around as well as this DR trimmer mower. And their engines did not run as well. Another thing I like about this DR trimmer mower is that it is easy to work on. I already know that if I ever need to replace the wheels I can easily do so. I had to remove and replace the wheels to install the new axle. And replacing the Mowball and the belt look easy enough to do. I think somebody who owns one of these machines should change oil however and not just put in the correct amount of oil and just add oil whenever necessary. I will change the oil on my machine. I like this DR trimmer mower very much so far.

BEST MACHINE IN MY BARN

I purchased the forerunner to the 6.75 back in 2005 or 2006?? It was the 5.5 Sprint. A side from routine maintenance, this mo-gating machine has taken care of every job I have put before it....no questions asked. The clutch replacement this year and a left wheel a few years back is the only out of the ordinary issues it has had. We live in the country so the terrain it cuts is varied and very demanding. I imagine we will be getting this upgrade next year. It's time. DR products are great. We just got their basic chipper and last month went thru 11 Hickory trees in the back yard. Sounded like I was grinding up rocks, but it did it all. Made great mulch for the veggies.

I like all the new design of this DR Trimmer. The placement of the battery and easy to plug in the wires. When you cut down high grass or weeds the wheels are not covered. I wasn't sure about buying the 6.75. The one I got back in the 90's was the bigger one. But this one has just as much power. When I turned the key the first time, I was shocked how it started right up and I didn't have to charge the battery.

This was an excellent choice for a mature lady. The Electric start was essential for me. I am learning the tricks to use it effectively. I read the manual, followed the directions and it started right up. However, a ground wire was sticking out when it was delivered so I had to have someone with more experience with small engines assure me that " just tucking it away" would be alright and not effect it's operation. I have enjoyed using it, but I would recommend the operator wear gloves.

I had purchased this trimmer last July but because of personal issues didn't take it out of the original box until a week ago.It was much easier to use than the other brand I had given away because it's cutting strings were constantly breaking. The DR mower did my whole lawn,(one acre of high grass),effortlessly. I love it !!......Thank you DR

Replacing a 20 year old model

I purchased a DR string trimmer in 1996; a 6 HP Tecumseh XLC model and used it frequently for 20 years. It functioned well for that period, with minimal maintenance required. I figured that it was time to replace it - pleased with the new one and the quick-lok head, which I think should be the STANDARD rather than optional accessory. My old Beaver Blade helped make my woods look like a state or national park

super trimmer

This is a superior string trimmer. I really like the large wheels, makes it easy to maneuver in soft soil, over curbs etc. I also tried the steel blades nd they cut the small saplings well. I like that one can be pretty far away from the cute like wild roses and raspberries. Can cut those without getting ensnared. As with the leaf vac this is a high quality product, I have even used it to mow grass in a swampy area where a regular lawn mower just sinks and stalls, and my rider just spins its wheels. The engine was a little hard to start the first time but now works well. I highly recommend this trimmer. I haven't tried the beaver blade yet. I had purchased the DR pole saw (battery powered) and used it also in a long reach mode to get to the main stalks of a huge wild rose bush.

Easy use out of the box. Line insertion possible with ends cut at an angle without soaking. Worked great - line pretty durable. One issue - hit an old cedar post hole and bent the axel slightly - shocked that it was that easily bent. Still a winner in my mind.

Just used new DR trimmer for first time since purchase. It replaced an older version we have had for 10 years. We also purchased the new quick connect head for easier line replacement. Nice smooth, powerful cutting. Handled some very tall weeds and dead grass in an area I have always wanted to clean up and lawn mower would not work in. Very happy with this purchase.

DR Trimmer Review

Replaced an older (2007) 6.25 Sprint Model after the engine blew. The new model is lighter and much easier to maneuver. It also has harder tires...something I always thought was needed. The harder tires prevent the trimmer from being trapped by ruts in the hillside. Although I wasn't planning to buy a new trimmer, I am definitely glad the model has continued to "improve" since my original purchase. Doing my end-of-season mow on our hillside was easier with the new trimmer because of the improvements.

I have a home that sits on a hillside and a portion of the property consisted of un-cleared brush and trees that created a fire hazard. After the trees were cleared I was left with an unsightly mess of brush and tall weeds. I was looking for a solution. I knew nothing about the DR Trimmer when I bought it. In one day I assembled the Trimmer and completely cleared the entire area and I will now be able to maintain it.... great investment! I also purchased most of the accessories all of which enhanced the effectiveness and ease of use. Terrific product!

Trimmer mower I have used ....ever! However I used my dad's older DR Trimmer which I loved. I bought competitor's but it was a bit hard to navigate-I kept ending up with crop circles. I am in my mid fifties & female, this machine is so easy to use that I look for reasons to go and gut the overgrown weeds/grass! The only thing I might change would be to offer the quick change string adapter as an option- in stead of having to buy it as an extra! 5 stars all the way!

I live in town with a yard that requires quite a bit of trimming. My husband works on the road and I am horrible at/ hate using the weedeater. I usually end up scalping the grass and it wears my arms down fast so I decided to get this for myself. So far I love it, I was able to trim my whole property in half the time and no fatigue in my arms! It was worth it for me!

I'm disappointed that the trimmer cord breaks as easily as the one on the older trimmer that I had. I bought the DR thinking I'd not have to change the cord as often. But. . . The Briggs engine if far superior to the Tecumseh on my other model. Why don't you send me a 1/2 ton hauler to make up for my disappointment? :)

I've just used the DR Trimmer/Mower 1x, but it was VERY EASY to install the cords, very lightweight and easy to use. I have a very uneven, rocky yard with lots of tree roots and it has always been difficult to do with a conventional blade mower. I had been doing the work with a hand-held line-trimmer most of the time. This cut down my time in half, was easy to maneuver and the machine is a monster! Can't even imagine what the higher models do. I'm hoping it will last a good long time. Makes my life much easier and the yard work almost -- ALMOST a pleasure to do!!!

Great trimmer
Posted by: Rick L. from Owasso, OK on 08/25/2015
Rating: Product Review Stars: 5.00 star rating
I think this unit is A-one. I've only used it about 5 hours so far, but it has done everything I have asked it to do. I read a few other reviews that said it was under powered but I haven't been able to bog it down yet and I've been cutting down grass and brush that's at least 4-5 feet tall. It's not the easiest to push around sometimes because of the rear wheels are narrow and get hung up on things. Some wider wheels I think will solve this or maybe pneumatic tires. The first time I used it I got the throttle governor spring hung up on some barbwire and ripped it right out and had to buy another one but I don't feel this is DR's problem but Briggs&Stratton, should have a cover to protect this as you use this allot around wire fences. Now to the one thing that is on DR and that is they tell you to soak the plastic trimmer line in water to soften it up which I feel is there way of selling more trimmer line. Although I did it I thought it sounded weird to do this as I have never heard this before. As a result of doing this I went thru 3 of the supplied lines in about 10 minutes. Not by wear but breakage. So I took the remainder of the lines and dried them out real good and the first set I put on lasted until worn down which was several hours. All in all I am please with my purchase so far.

This is my 3rd DR Trimmer and I would have to say my BEST. I love the upgrades especially the shield on the right side of the mower as it forces people to mow the right direction. My Daughter-in-law would use the old one and do a terrible job of trimming and I figured out she was going the wrong direction. Love the adjustable handle and the new mower ball is so easy to put the cutting string into!! You have out done yourself in the great improvements!!!!

I just purchased the trimmer/mower this last month. I've used it twice now and couldn't be happier with my decision. I like it so much that I got carried away and mowed down weeds, tall grass and vines in the woods that I never intended to touch. And when I was done, my back wasn't killing me. The cutting cord is larger than any cord that I have ever seen or used with a traditional carry weed eaters, which means it last a LOT longer. One set last for a whole trim job. You have a new loyal customer. Thanks Dr Power.

Does a good job in handling grass, young bamboo, small saplings & tall brush. I got the electric start and haven't had any problems starting it. Just took it out of the box and put the oil, gas and line in it and was able to start cutting brush down. Does what it claims to be able to do and can do the work of a push mover and weedeater all in one swipe.

Rating: Product Review Stars: 4.00 star rating
I've been using the little trimmer for about a month now. So far it's all good. The only draw back so far is the small gas tank. However it seems to be getting a little better mileage with each tank, or I'm getting older. The string's not bad to load, and depending on how much I hit the fence, lasts pretty well. I thought perhaps I would need a self propelled one, but the tough going seems like that would be a waste. Two and three foot tall cammamille seems to go away pretty well.

The unit was not damaged on arrival and was easy to unpack and get ready for cutting grass -- the grass was very long (over a foot in many places) and wet and the mower did well. I cut most of the yard without replacing the strings whereas the previous DR trimmer/mower (18 years old) required more frequent replacement of the strings. It started easily several times and was a lot easier to handle than the previous DR machine.

I operated a previous model of DR Trimmer/Mower and when the string holder broke off (which appeared to be white metal), I recently ordered a replacement trimmer. The current model is much improved. The string is more durable; it is held in place better and the lighter weight of the trimmer makes it more manageable on hilly terrain. Kudos!

This machine has performed very well on our little farm. Cleans out under the fences very nicely. Trimmer line is super easy to install and change. I would give it 5 stars, except it weighs more than the old competitor's trimmer that was very similar in size and power.

Weed's be afraid

The DR Trimmer attacks weeds unlike any weed eater out there. It starts easy and is easy to operate. I added a maintenance meter and trim guard. The instructions for the meter were almost useless. A rewrite is definitely needed. The trim guard is very helpful to avoid damaging trees, and fences. This is a monster of a machine that will make weed eating a pleasure and not a chore.

Q.How much cord comes with the trimmer?
A.When you purchase a Walk-Behind Trimmer Mower, you will receive a sample pack that contains 6 sections of blue and 6 sections of green cutting cord. The cord we offer is thicker than usual cutting cord designed to take the punishment of trimming and mowing tough weeds and tall grass with ease.

To avoid any down time, we recommend keeping a good supply of cord on hand. Our cutting cord is available pre-cut or in rolls. Our DR cutting cord can be viewed and/or ordered at the following web address:

Q.What is included with this model Trimmer Mower? Thanks.
A.With the purchase of the DR 6.25 Premier Walk-Behind Trimmer Mower, you receive a sample pack of cutting cord. Six sections of the 155 mil green cord and six sections of the 175 mil blue cutting cord.

The DR cutting cord is thicker and longer wearing than the largest cord used on most hand-held string trimmers. This means you change it less frequently and enables you to mow thicker, fibrous vegetation.

Q.What is a life time for the battery and how offen do l need to recharge the battery?
A.A Sealed Lead Acid Battery typically lasts 3 to 5 yrs with proper care. They should be charged with a 12 volt 2 amp Charger. If you have a Maintenance style Charger, that would be the optimum choice.

The battery should be charged before each use, after each use and every 1-2 months when not in use. They should be stored in a cool, dry location but not allowed to freeze. The charging time to fully charge with a standard trickle Charger (1.5a or 1500maH) should be 8-14hrs.

Q.Do the back wheels pivot?
A.The 2014 TR4 Trimmer Mowers have a new offset frame design which ensures the cut reaches outside the wheel path, great for trimming under fence lines, along stone walls, near gardens, buildings and other obstacles.

With the new offset frame design, there is no longer the need for the parallel trimming action (PTA) feature, which on our older model trimmers allowed you to move the machine in a straight line while the trimmer head pivoted and tilted to the left for better access to fence lines and other obstacles.

Thanks for your inquiry. ph

Q.Can this trimmer/mower handle small brush? if so, up to what size or circumference?
A.There are multiple cutting options for the DR Walk Behind Trimmer. The cutting cord is designed to cut down grass and weeds up to a pencils width thick. With the use of the DuraBlades you can cut down woody material up to 3/8th an inch. This works great reeds and vines, material that is too thick to be cut by the cord. The Beaver Blade is a great option for cutting down thicker material, up to a 3" sapling. Both can be used on this model.

Q.I am looking for a Trimmer to mow my ditches, the hand held weed eaters are just too heavy and hard on my back these days. I am currently using a push mower which works, but again, can be heavy so I am wondering if your product might work better. My ditches are narrow so it would be pushing the Trimmer down and either up the other side or pulling it back up the same side to me. What would you recommend?
A.Thank you for your interest in the DR 6.25 Trimmer/Mower.

The Premier model weighs just 57 lbs for the manual start model and 66 lbs for the electric start model. Much lighter than most walk behind lawn mowers. It also has 14-inch diameter wheels which helps a lot with moving it over rough, uneven terrain. The DR Trimmer/Mowers will handle hills with up to a 20-degree slope.

A.The DR Walk Behind Trimmer can absolutely be used to trim around chain link fences! If you do not want the cord to hit the fence posts, we do offer a TrimSafe Guard that will place a barrier between the cutting cords and the posts, preventing any damage. If you find that the cord is being pulled out by the fence, I would recommend a QuickLock Head. This will hold the string in better. Please let us know if you have any other questions!

The Durablades can cut through up to a 3/8" thickness and the Beaver Blade can cut through up to a 3" thick sapling.
