DR Rear Tine Roto-Tiller

A powerful OHV engine and agressive counter-rotating tines gives the DR Rear Tine Tiller the extra muscle you need for sod-busting, and makes all types of soil preparation fast and easy. Power driven wheels can be released with a pin for free-wheeling when needed to travel or maneuver the tiller.

Rear Tine Tiller

Features

Power Driven Wheels

The tractor style pneumatic tires propel the tiller forward easily in almost any terrain. The wheels can be released with a pin for free-wheeling when needed to travel or maneuver the tiller.

Counter Rotating Tines (CRT)

The tines rotate in opposition to the powered wheels, creating an aggressive tilling action. This gives the machine the additional muscle you need for heavier uses, like sod-busting or tilling in heavy clay soil.

Drag Stake and Debris Shield

The drag stake provides extra resistance. When not needed, it can be raised and pinned in place. The debris shield protects operator from thrown soil.

Powerful Engine

Easy-starting, OHV engine has 8.86 foot pounds of torque (212cc). 3700 RPM and cast iron cylinder sleeve. Warranted for 2 years (90 days in commercial use).

This does a great job digging. I had to adjust belts to get reverse to work . I wish handle bars were adjustable. It started right up that was sweet.

Great sodbuster

I picked this up at a freight hub to take advantage of the free shipping. That worked out great. Assembly was a piece of cake. All I had to do was attach the handlebars and add gas and oil. It started on the first pull. I doubt my half acre lot had been tilled within the last 5 years. I had to make two passes. The first one at the shallowest setting and the second at the 3/4 max depth. This machine chewed up the sod without a problem. The owner's manual states that to make the tiller go slower, press down on the handlebars. This is unnecessary. The tiller never goes too fast. The tires can barely pull the tiller against the counter-rotating tines. Most of the time, you have to push to tiller along. It does crawl forward under it's own power. The owner's manual also states that there is a high altitude kit for elevations above 3000ft. It says to contact DR Power. I did. DR Power doesn't carry the kit. I live at 5000ft. Minus one star. If power is sent to the wheels, there is no neutral. To place the tiller into neutral you must pull the axle pins and disconnect the wheels from the axle. This is how it's designed. It's awkward to use and make tight turns. Minus one star. For a homeowner, it's a good tiller for occasional use.

This had a smoother operation than other tillers I’ve used. It was easy to move around because of its self-propelled tractor style wheels. It works really well and is quite powerful.

Product Q&A
Ask a Question for This Product

Q.What is the difference between a Forward Rotating Tine Tiller and a Counter Rotating Tine Tiller?
A.Thank you for your question. Forward Rotating Tine Tillers have tines that rotate forward, in the same direction as the wheels. A forward rotating tine tiller is ideal if you're tilling ground 5” in depth or less. With a Rear Tine Tiller, also referred to as Counter Rotating Tine Tillers, tines will rotate counter-clockwise. The frontward pulling of the wheels combined with the counter rotation enable an individual to till compacted soil with ease. Counter rotating tine tillers are the best for loosening hard or clay soils. Please feel free to contact us if you have any other questions.

Q.What is the width of the tiller and does it have a reverse? What make is the engine? Do both power wheels pull together or are does only one have pulling power, will the tiller turn easily.
A.Thank you for your questions. The Rear Tine Walk-Behind Till does have a reverse. It is 19.25" wide. The engine is a DR branded Rato engine. We use this brand in many of our machines. Both wheels will drive if you pin them both. The level of difficulty in turning will depend on how deep the tiller is in the ground and the composition of the soil. Please feel free to give us a call if you have any other questions.
