16.96 PRO-XL Model

The PRO-XL model combines our biggest collector with our most powerful engine to provide extra muscle for the most demanding cleanup conditions.

The top-of-the-line 16.96 ft. lbs. torque engine (389 cc), in combination with the massive Shark-Teeth impeller, creates tremendous airflow that virtually eliminates clogs and leaves your lawn beautifully free of debris.

The easy-opening clamshell collector and backless cart (with a steep 60-degree dump angle) ensures that unloading is fast, easy and thorough.

Premier model leaf vacuum reduces leaves and yard waste

Collect, Shred and Dump!

Using the DR Leaf and Lawn Vacuum drastically reduces the volume of leaves and other materials it collects. It starts with your mower deck which provides lift to pull lawn debris up into the spinning blade. Then the partially mulched material is channeled into our Shark Teeth Steel impeller which further reduces it before passing it in to the collector.

It's not JUST for Leaves!

In spring the DR is great for cleaning up the wind- and storm-borne debris that collects on your lawn. During the summer, it makes a terrific high-capacity bagger that will leave your lawn spotless with very little extra effort on your part. And you can use the utility cart any time of year for hundreds of hauling jobs.

Features

Accessories Add Versatility

Our Vacuum Hose lets you get at yard waste in places you can't drive your mower. And the Mulch Discharger allows you to broadcast all that debris right where you want it.

Optimal 8" Hose

Our 8" hoses offer the ideal balance–narrower hoses clog too frequently, and wider ones lose compression and suction power. We tested extensively and found 8" to be the optimal diameter.

Modular Design

Our collector top removes and folds up, and the engine rolls away on its own built-in trolley. The result: simple, space-efficient storage and year-round versatility.

Reduce a Mountain of Leaves

Our Shark-Teeth Impeller, in combination with the action of your lawn mowing blade, reduces your leaves to a fine mulch during collection. The result is rich, organic material that you can return to your garden or compost heap.

Tow-behind DR leaf vacuum converts to a utility cart

Utility Cart

With the upper collector and power unit detached, the cart bed makes a great all-purpose utility trailer. Pin hitch it to your riding mower (or ATV) and use it for all kinds of landscaping and hauling chores. The Pro-XL model has a 800 pound capacity.

Keystart on the tow-behind DR leaf vacuum

Electric Start Available

The Pro-XL model is available with electric-start (with manual recoil backup). The 9-amp battery recharges during use, for instant starts with the turn of a key.

Collector trailer on the tow-behind DR leaf vacuum

Huge Capacity

The Pro-XL model holds up to 321 Gallons (43 cu. ft.). The high-speed impeller reduces the volume of leaves to a fraction of their original bulk. So you'll be able to collect huge amounts of leaves and debris before you have to stop and unload.

14-inch wheels on the tow-behind DR leaf vacuum

Big Wheels...easy Rolling!

Our 14" diameter wheels are bigger than competitive products and create a smoother roll. You can convert to dual wheel setup with our Wheel Upgrade Kit.

Trailer jack stand on the tow-behind DR leaf vacuum

Trailer Jack Stand

Heavy-duty Trailer Jack Stand, for moving the machine easily when not in use. Adapts to pin hitch heights of 8" to 15". Stand lifts out of the way during operation. 4" diameter wheel. (Optional accessory).

I'm 69 years old and I use to spend many hours multiple times a season picking up leaves. Our driveway always took me an hour or more. My wife decided it was going to end up hurting me if I kept working so hard on the yard. She enticed me to let her buy this unit for me and it's truly a life saver. Now, I complete our whole yard including the driveway in an hour or so. The same time it took to do the driveway. It only takes me 15 minutes to complete the driveway now. I wish I had bought this 5 years ago. We never lived in a place that had so many leaves because of all the trees. Now, I appreciate the trees instead of cursing them in the past.

Need to be good with your hands for assembly . Have got to use it once since purchased . Does a good job . Cleaned around 1 1/2 acres covered in white oak & pin oak in around 3.5 hours . Which equaled 8 full loads . They where also a little wet on bottom . Clogged it 1st load did not realize it was full . No other issue after figured how to tell it getting full . Except it does turn shorter than mower .

DR Leaf Vacuum

Have now put several hours and filled a few trailer loads of leaves with the leaf vacuum. It works very well with the larger 16.96 engine. Don't worry about small sticks, they get mulched with no issues. You do need to be careful with gravel, especially small sized. The vacuum is so strong it will suck them right up. I installed some small plastic wheels to the vacuum hose end so I could roll the nozzle along the ground and to keep it a few inches above the ground. Works great! Wish there was some system to drape the long hose around the hopper so it can be moved to new locations around the yard or property without having to remove, carry, or drag it. This machine is for real!

Easy to assemble except the canvas cover is a really tight fit as the instructions state. The adapter was pretty simple to cut out and install. Just take a little cut at a time, be patient and don't rush it. It is like a giant vacuum cleaner and shreds leaves and twigs to make a very good mulch for my garden. Tows easily behind my 20 HP riding mower even with a full hopper. The first day I got 6 full hoppers and 1/2 hopper full of mulch and tilled it into my garden. Will get more in a few weeks as more leaves fall. I will probably add a handle of some type on the front of the hopper to assist when closing from the dump position, those 2 gas struts are powerful when dumping but put up a fight when closing. So far I am 110% satisfied with this machine.

I have used DR lawn vacs in the past, and they have always been one notch above the rest of the field. They are not cheap because they are not built cheap. The Service Manager, Mike, at Anderson Outdoor Power in Demotte, Indiana, is a very knowledgeable person and is a DR dealer. This PRO-XL is a beast. Everything in the DR advertisements is true. This is the best machine on the market. Kudos to the engineers who designed the clam shell dump, you have saved my aching back. Kudos to Anderson Outdoor Power for caring the best machine on the market.

Two Complaints
Posted by: Jimmy H. from Golden, MS on 11/28/2017
Rating: Product Review Stars: 5.00 star rating
First off is the XL model is something I should have bought a few years ago. It took a two day job and condensed it into a 1 hour job. I'm 69 years old and getting the leaves up every year was a major problem for me. My wife bought this for me to save my life from working to death. Now, I did manage to put this together by myself. However, the top part is totally difficult and I never could get the back end to wrap around the bar and fasten to the Velcro. Also, the premium jack stand is a joke as it's very flimsy. It needs to have support from both sides of the tongue. I don't know of anybody else in this county that's got one of these and everybody is amazed at what it'll do. I've taken care of a couple of friends yard and they loved it too.

It is a great machine. Does exactly what it is supposed to do. My lawn is over 3 acres and it looks spectacular all cleaned and leafless. I had trouble keeping the hoses attached to the mower and blower. The hoses seem heavy to me for the application but in the "do it yourself assembly" I am not always the greatest engineer. I will figure it out. All in all I love the product and would highly recommend it to anyone.

Review of DR Pro-XL Leaf and Lawn VAC
Posted by: EILEEN D. from MARION, NC on 11/22/2017
Rating: Product Review Stars: 4.00 star rating
I have only used this vacuum once so far and it did a great job. It is a substantial piece of equipment that appears to be well made and will hopefully give years of service. Assembling the vac however was not the easiest of things. Two people definitely are needed. The online videos were very helpful but sometimes conflicted with the manual. The keys for the electric start were missing as well as some bolts which held up completing the assembly. The parts department were quick to respond but it was several days. The packages of bolts, etc would be better labeled on the package and in the manual so as not to get things mixed up. The velcro attachment at the back does not really work well and keeps coming undone. I have an extended hose and the thumb clamp is wimpy and will soon break. I would recommend this piece of equipment and hopefully DR will address the issues.

Rear Discharge
Posted by: George C. from Bridgeton, NJ on 09/26/2017
Rating: Product Review Stars: 5.00 star rating
I have a Woods 7200RD finish mower, which is rear discharge. I built a plenum across the back and installed the deck adaptor in the plenum. I also installed a hitch to the mower deck with a ball mount and added a ball receiver to the tongue of the vacuum. I had a very thick layer of dead grass embedded in the lawn from several rains. The vacuum picked up the grass and new clippings quite well. In two mowings, the old grass is gone. The vacuum would work better for rear discharge mowers if DR would build a plenum and rotate the motor 90 degrees, so the intake was pointed toward the rear of the mower.

I have owned my lawn vacuum since 2006. It is now 2017 and it has never let me down. B/S engine still runs great, plastic hose and container area still in great shape. The wheels are original and hold air like they should. I have 1 ac lot with many hardwood trees and a couple of pines. The metal wheel inside that creates the vacuum will still pull everything off the ground, even rocks if I am not careful. My neighbor has a cyclone and replaced the canvas once since 07. DR is the way to go.

I am using my vacuum to collect cheat grass seeds.I have mowed and used a lawn sweeper in past years. This machine does a better job in just one pass so it cuts my time to less than half of before. Assembly was very straight forward-only problem I had was stretching canvas into place. I used a jack bar which worked fine. All in all I am pleased with the machine so far. It works as advertised.

the machine works great with leaf collection, i have yet to use it for lawn use, i am sure it will work great for that too. with the good reviews also comes the not so good reviews. i am refering to the extra charge for the deck adapter kit $89.99. the lawn and leaf vac. would be useless without one, plus the p&h charge of $20.99 for placing the kit and the extra hose kit which i needed for my bigger machine, into the same shipping container as the vac. i was told after questioning about extra charges for the extra items that if shipped together there would be no shipping charges, via phone. oh well!

It does a good job of mulching, really reduces volume. If you don't want to compost, you have to dump it and reload it to haul the debris away. So far, it is still quite wet, I think the tubes will work better when it is dryer out. They tend to clog with wet debris.

I called and purchased the pro-xl on Tuesday august 16 2015. Picked it up on Friday august 19 2015, put it togeather on Saturday. The only hard part putting it togeather was stretching the canvas. Called tech center and he said to stretch it and don't worry if it tears, he said it won't and if it does just call him back and they will ship another out the same. got it put on and off we went. After getting 11" of rain I had to wait until the pond it made in my yard to dry up. The grass was about 8" tall and I thought he we go , I guess this will be a good test. TO MY SURPRISE IT WORKED GREAT. What a great machine. I just wished I would have purchased it 3 years ago. We mow and pick up leaves on about 3 1/2 arce's wit about 20 oak tree's on it. I would strongly recommend this product to anyone. THANK YOU DR

Leaf and Lawn Vacuum - Great product but hose tears
Posted by: Paul H. from Warren, OH on 07/05/2016
Rating: Product Review Stars: 4.00 star rating
I purchased the Leaf and Lawn Vacuum last year and have had mostly positive experience with it. The only problem is the discharge hose tore at the connection of the mower discharge, after just two months, which I thought was due to sharp turns. So, I trimmed the discharge hose and reconnected to the mower deck connection. I did not make any sharp turns but the hose has torn again. I hope the company will correct the issue with the hose tearing at the discharge connection. The hose is expensive for it to be tearing so easily and quickly under normal use conditions.
Response from DR SupportThank your for taking the time to write a review and let us know that this has happened. Please give us a call at 1(800)687-6575 to talk with a technician regarding the hose. The hose should not be tearing under normal use on a one year old machine. We would love to help you correct this problem. Thank you.

If you want to eliminate leaves in hurry- this is the best product on the market.. I would put this product up against any othe and it will beat them hands down!

DONE RAKING

Rating: Product Review Stars: 5.00 star rating
I ordered the Pro-XL last November with a promise I would have it in time for fall cleanup. It was shipped late and came with the enclosure for the Premier instead of the Pro. I called customer service and they promised expedited shipment for receipt in two days. When it didn't arrive as promised, I called back to find out it had been back ordered and it wouldn't be available until January. Therefore, I had to wait until May to do my clean up. After finally being able to use it, I discovered they had also sent the frame for the Premier instead of the Pro. Customer service then shipped the correct frame along with an extended hitch plate and hose extension to correct problems caused by the tight turning radius of my all wheel steer tractor which knocked out both tail lights on the tractor. I would highly recommend the DR Leaf and Lawn Vacuum but make sure you get everything you need for your specific tractor. This is one powerful machine which makes yard cleanup a breeze. The customer service department and the service department at DR Power are simply the best. They resolved all my problems and it was clear to me they wanted me to be totally satisfied with my DR Leaf and Lawn Vacuum. They had all the fixes for everything except the deck adapter. The bottom of mine bowed upward so badly that it constricted the vacuum flow. I fixed mine by installing an aluminum plate on the bottom of the deck adapter and now it works just fine. I absolutely love my DR Leaf and Lawn Vacuum.

Good but not ideal

We probably would not buy this again. Assembly was difficult - the parts did not match the pictures in the directions. Leaves are not chopped very fine; we will not be using them as mulch. However, it does beat doing it by hand. Three loads were done in a few hours.
Response from DR SupportThank you for your feedback on the DR Leaf and Lawn Vacuum that you recently purchased. Assembly does take some time and we have some good videos on our web site that offer more detailed information. We are certainly sorry to hear that you are not completely happy with your new DR. The model that you own can collect up to 321 gallons of shredded material. The high speed steel impeller (with a lifetime warranty) reduces the material to a fraction of its original size. We would be happy to discuss with you further your concerns - please feel free to give us a call. Thank you for your business and we hope to hear from you.

Favorite tool for lawncare entusiasts

Put the rake away and never rake again. This machine easily handles the tonnage of Pennsylvania autumn leaf duty. Quality materials and great performance. Glad I took the chance on the purchase. Easily dumps and makes short work of a long tedious task. 150 trees between the front yard, back yard, and the adjacent property. Just ride around on the riding lawnmower and pull it behind. A real time saver. Other than my lawn tractor, it is easily the most fun tool in the garage. You won't be disappointed with this machine.

Changes I Would Like to See
Posted by: Jerry P. from WEST POINT, VA on 10/25/2015
Rating: Product Review Stars: 3.00 star rating
Although the unit does a very good job of collecting cuttingsand leaves from the lawn areas, it fails in several other areas. The primary fault is that it is not designed to be used in and around trees and other landscaping - you cannot make the turns required - tight turns to the right are impeded by the hose from the mower to the unit sticking out and getting in the way, tight turns to the left will disconnect the hose from the mower. Also, getting the unit into tight places to empty it are very difficult and most times require me to disconnect the unit from the mower and push the unit into position to empty. If the user only needs to use the unit in open areas, it works great, but in order to use it in landscaped areas and around obstacles it needs to be redesigned to be more user friendly. As for me, at this time, I I would not recommend this unit as it exists and I want to return it and wait to see if a better design is offered. I like the concept of what it does, but it just is not suited for the type of terrain and landscaping that I have on my property.
Response from DR SupportThank you for providing feedback on your DR® Leaf and Lawn Vacuum. The concerns that you mention having to do with either left or right-hand turns, may very well be an indication that you need extra hose length. We don’t see in your customer file the type of lawn mower that you have so someone from our tech support department is going to give you a call to see if we can provide some suggestions. Getting in and around areas of your property that are landscaped shouldn’t be a problem as long as your mower was able to get in and out of those locations to begin with. It’s something we’ll discuss with you when we call. We appreciate hearing back from you and thank you for choosing DR® Power. We’ll be in touch soon.

Well made, rugged. Must keep an eye on your hopper. Don't over fill the hopper or you cannot empty it alone if it over fills. Because of my Big Boy 60" cut mower I can only turn to the right. If you had a two foot hose extension I would purchase it in a heart beat and be able to turn left. I am 100% satisfied with my purchase and would not hesitate to recommend it to others.
Response from DR SupportThank you for providing your feedback on the DR® Leaf and Lawn Vacuum. We are pleased that the vacuum is working well for you and wanted to let you know that we do offer a hose extension kit for larger mowers. The item is 35162 and it is an extra 36” length hose with an additional cuff on one end. You can find it right on our web site using that item number. It will provide that extra distance that you require in order to take those wider left-hand turns. Thank you for choosing DR® Power. We appreciate your business!

I just got it assembled week or so ago and have not used it yet. I had the older model of this machine and it did a wonderful job. I'm very exited about this machine for several reasons, the main one being easier to dump. Also the way this is set up I see no reason for clogs with shorter hose. With 2 acres of heavy oaks leaves get matted 2-8 inches thick and the old one plowed right through, am looking forward with the larger engine I believe it will be much improved in picking up and leaves and piles should break down faster.

Purchased my DR 16.96 Pro-XL in December of 2014. Unpacked it in April of this year and put together. The online videos were the best as a visual aid to the manual for assembly. It was a little tough to put together, but was well worth the effort. I researched many different units and chose DR. I am very happy I did. When I firt tried out the unit on my lawn, it was picking up leaves, but a little amount was still left on the ground. Low and behold, I forgot to turn on my mower deck. When I engaged the deck, it was amazing at how well my unit vacuumed up the leaves. The service department was very helpful and stand behind their products. The machine is definetly DR (Done Right). I have been a returning customer to DR for the past 2 years and plan on continuing to do business with a company that has such a high reguard for service and customer staisfaction.

I used this machine to clean up a large area of built up leaves. It did he job like they were fresh fallen. Very easy to use and dump, but the top does not fold up as easy as it is shown in the video. All parts are well made and very thought out how they are going to do the job. Definitely requires ear protection.

Very nice product

Very nice, powerful system. The improvements to dumping and the dual wheels are great improvements over the last iteration (that I also had). Engine runs great, and it has a LOT of suction. As with others, the assembly of the canvas was a challenge. I resorted to using a small bottle-jack and piece of 4x4 to stretch the canvas to get the frame in place. Suggestion: The bottom of the discharge chute, where it meets the blower assembly, could use a gasket as there were some air leaks. Some thick foam insulation tape worked fine to fix this. Also, does anyone else have a small amount of leakage where the chute enters the canvas box? I am thinking of adding a little extension to the chute, or perhaps some type of gasket where it enters the box.

Mechanically is sound but cover is tearing in numerous spots ( have received a new one). The main vacuum hose breaks/tears very easily and does not last (have received new one). Customer service is outstanding and very helpful, which is unheard of in today's world. Great people! The biggest gripe is the hose, it is the weakest link. Would be nice to have two shorter hoses with a union that swiveled or something to this degree. Would then be an awesome machine.

Very frustrating getting product to work properly. (you should supply a tool to spread the canvas to 42" that you can apply enough pressure to stretch the canvas so it will fit). I have good strength and was unable to do it. I had to cut a 2x4 42" in length and put it at an angle and hammer it to square (after attaching the hinge plate before installing the pin, then sit the top on the trailer and attach the pin). Also the conversion items to mower deck needs to include a riser to get hose above mower wheels. I have a 4 wheel steer (John Deere X324) and when making a left turn, hose hits the wheel. I cut the hose according to directions and it was too short. Had to buy some more hose. I turned trailer maximum to the left and cut my new hose to proper length for turning left and it is too long for making right turns. Tongue should be extended another 6 - 8 inches and if the deck attachment was equipped to rise to the level of the attachment on the Pro-XL, then go to an elbow connected to the inlet on motor, you may be able to turn both directions without needing an acre of ground to turn around. This machine as it is currently made is for going straight and making very gradual turns. I am very disappointed with it's operation. I have some hills to work in the back yard, or I would have ordered tho other type trailer that doesn't have a tongue.

DESIGN FLAW FOR ZERO TURNS

Rating: Product Review Stars: 2.00 star rating
Great vac for leaves!!! But the cart and hose for zero turns are not functional at all. I have called customer service they are wonderful people to talk to but was NOT ABLE TO CORRECT THE PROBLEM FOR THE ZERO TURN MOWER. The hose rubs my tires if i turn left and bunches up extremely when i turn to the right. They did send me out an extension hoes to help but that just makes the hoes bunch up even more when i turn right, and yes i have adjusted the straps as many ways as i can. I now need even more straps to put on the vacuum hose to keep it off the ground when i turn right. I know on jthe original vac they the cart to track exactly behind the zero turns but with the new design, so that you can use the cart as a small trailor they did not put the swivel wheels on the cart. Please let me know if you have any solutions to this problem. The Lady that I talked to said she talked with an engineer and he did not have a solution at this time. Naturally any alterations to the cart will void my warranty. So please help if you can.
Response from DR Support Thank you for your feedback on the DR® Leaf and Lawn Vacuum. We appreciate hearing back from our customers about all of their experiences. We certainly want to offer as many operational tips as we can so that the machine performs to your satisfaction. Here are some suggestions and would love to hear back from you if they proved helpful. You can contact us at 1 -800-376-9637. 1. The hose end of the deck adapter is canted out. You might try canting it out more by how you place it on the mower deck. You’d likely have to slot holes in the deck adapter since it’s probably already install. This would help with any over tightening issues for left turns 2. Hose Length: Turn all the way to the left (reasonable and what would be likely for your situation) and then once turned, determine how much hose is extra – then cut the hose to length eliminating that additional/extra length. This will help with right-hand turns 3. Typically people either mow in circles or in straight passes and take turns at the end of that pass. We suggest mowing in circles more to the left or taking turns to the left. Our own product testers do this when using a Z-turn mower. Again, we hope this is helpful and that you find the hose issues taken care of. We certainly appreciate the feedback and want to thank you for your business.

I've seen the DR Leaf and Lawn Vacuums advertised for some time and finally decided that this was my year for one, and I wasn't disappointed. The Pro-XL does a great job in conjunction with my John Deere 1023E tractor and 54" deck. I did need a tow bar and extra hose kit due to the size of the tractor. My only comment is that assembling the fabric top cover is not easy. It's a very tight fit. The instructions suggest two people and even then expect to have to work at it, but once together it's well worth the hard work. Thanks, DR for a great product.

the dr leaf and lawn vac works great when hooked up to the extra hose i purchased. the adapter for the mower deck is a different issue. i had to move it forward a lot more than the center that they recommend on a 42" deck in order to clear the deck wheels. when i did that the hose from the vac to deck is to tight if i turn my tractor all the way to the left. i'm disappointed that there isn't extra hose to cut off for a better fit. my other issue was shipping. when i ordered the adapter and extra hose they said i had to be charged shipping because when the vac comes from assembly the box is sealed and the other pieces would have to be strapped to the top. when i picked up the vac everything was inside the main box that had the free shipping. that being said they gave me a deal on the vac unit because the next smaller unit had been over sold so that was a plus. i would definitely recommend the vac unit. it did work really well and it seems to be built well. i had trouble figuring out the top but tech was great with help, which was another plus

After getting the Pro XL put togeather with few complications, it was too cold out to try it that day. So we kept it in the heated garage. The first warm day I took it out for a test run. All was going great until I ran over a medium sized stick with the mower. It went thur that fine then It went to blower and it handled it fine. The problem is the plastic discharge spout did not take it. Right thru it leaving a football sized hole in the heel of the elbow. The stick was small by comparison to what I thought it would handle. The outdoor temperature was around 55* or so. It's not like it was frozen or the plastic was cold. This piece should be much stronger than what I have here. Plastic is probably not the best material for this part. As far as everything else, I was impressed and pleased. Hope the replacement part and the service will be good. We will see.

The assembly was exhausting and very difficult. The canvass cover was so tight I had to use spreaders to spread the sides wide enough to fit the rear handle assembly. The "universal" adapter was too long for my deck. I think the overall quality of the product is fine but I suggest you have an additional "3 men and boy" standing by to assist you in putting the beast together. Tough task for a 65 yr old. The cover is very difficult to collapse for "easy" storage. I am glad I have enough room to leave it assembled.

I agonized over whether to purchase a DR or another brand. For the price, I went with the DR an I am happy I did. It was a bit of a hassle fitting my zero turn tractor with the correct mower deck adapter and then during the first use of my DR, the hose tore. With the zero turns, make certain you get the extended hose. Mine came with a hole under the O-ring connector so DR replaced it with no hassle at all. I was extremely pleased with the DR customer service and would highly recommend this product. I own three acres of land with about 50 huge trees dumping a tremendous amount of leaves. I was amazed how the DR 16.96 XL picked up every leaf in the drive path. Of course the leaves don't fall all at once so I have been out three times and it performs equally well on wet leaves also. If you want to make back breaking work much less dreaded work, get the DR. Works great and, so far, exceptional customer service. By the way, I got the pull start XL, not the electric start and it starts easily. Save the $ and the hassles of the electric start. I actually can't wait to get her back out again come Spring. Thanks for a very good product and for what seemed like wonderful people working at customer service. He genuinely seemed to care that I was fully satisfied. He earned my future business. I wish other companies would learn from DR.

Even with a very thick layer of leaves, this machine picked them up and never clogged once. Much better than another brand that I had used before. Has plenty of power and the 8" hose does the trick. I have a few areas that kept me from giving 5 stars. First, the folks on the phone at DR messed up my order and could not get the story straight. In the end the manger, Don, made it right. Second, I had to rig a second hose support bar on my subcompact JD tractor due to the length of hose. DR could have a kit or suggestions or something to help with this. Third, the design of the boot allows quite a few leaves to shoot out to the right under the boot, escaping the vac. You get them on subsequent passes, but it could be better. As I said, I am quite pleased and I love the way the machine dumps all the material out so easily.

Leaf Vac Feedback

I am a professional mechanic and mechanical engineer. It took me about 4 hours to assemble and perform the start sequence, while following the instructions. All of the parts were included and the instructions were easy to follow. The only discrepancy was the callout for specific wrench sizes, but not an issue. The machine ran very well and appears to be well design/engineered. And thus far has exceeded my expectations. I'm curious to know who is the actual manufacturer of the engine.

The mechanical assembly was easy but I and two friends cannot get the canvis to go on the frame in any way. We have worked two afternoons and wound up popping the heads off two c bolts and tearing the canviss where the c bolts go in-Still no luck--Any advice. I have a few of your machines and never had a bit of trouble. Could this be the wrong canvis for this frame????
Response from DR SupportThank you so much for your feedback. We are going to have someone from our tech support department give you a call to see where we might help with the canvas cover. Excellent unit, reviews and instructions important!

First of all, read Carl's review. It's concise and very informative and very helpful. I ordered my unit on a Wednesday, got it the following Wednesday, and laid everything out on my garage floor on the cardboard that it was packed in. There's diagrams on one piece of cardboard with the parts shown. I read the instructions through completely, per Carl's good advice, and then laid out the parts and hardware in the order listed. The deck adapter was shipped separately for my John Deere 265, which is 22 years old, and came the following day. I did parts of the assembly myself but it's extremely helpful to have another pair of hands. The only problem I really had was with the instructions that came with the deck adapter. It covers a standard adapter and an angled adapter. The directions and pictures are for an angled adapter. I contacted MJ in tech support at DR and he e-mailed me much more detailed instructions and told me to leave the hinge plate from my discharge chute on my John Deere but remove the spring and pin and THIS was key. I do not have a jigsaw but had a friend who does and he helped me with the deck adapter. When it was all assembled, it worked perfectly and I'm very pleased with the unit. I'm 70 years old and normally sweep up between 110 and 125 carts of leaves with a 48" sweeper and I've had 2 back surgeries so this is extremely helpful to me.

I purchased the largest model (16.96 HP Pro-XL) with the vacuum hose adapter, hose extension, and hitch adapter. I have about 1.5 acres of yard that gets absolutely pounded with leaves in the Fall. We were getting sick and tired of dragging endless tarp loads of leaves every weekend, so we figured we would give the vacuum a try. I did ZERO leaf removal up through the third week of October to put this vacuum to the test and justify the price tag. In certain spots we had 4-6 inches of leaves. Some wet, some dry.. I started with the mower deck at the highest setting for the deep spots and worked my way down with a few slow passes. Going slow and allowing the mower and vacuum to do their job, it picked up everything nicely after a few passes for the high spots. The vacuum had absolutely zero issues with this amount of leaves. The cart filled up relatively quickly, but considering the volume of leaves that we were dealing with, I was not surprised. Backing up and dumping the trailer was very easy once you lock in the process. For the most part I was very impressed with this machine. This unit has a very high capacity, and the 16+hp engine provides a TON of suction. Overall I think you have a very nice product, but here is my feedback regarding assembly and operation: #1: The Directions and Assembly -This unit was a PAIN to put together. -It was very hard to use the pictures for guidance due to being in black and white and blurry. -My vacuum was sent to me missing parts that I later discovered were on back order when I called customer service for the second time. I was extremely disgusted that I was not notified beforehand that these parts were not just missing, but actually on back-order. I certainly should have been notified that these parts were backordered beforehand, and told when to expect them to be shipped right from the start. -It was also extremely difficult stretching the fabric for the final front and back portions of the vacuum cart to get the bolts through the holes. It is still so tight that I am still having difficult keeping all of the top snaps connected. Performance: -It would be really nice to know when the unit is getting full. Would it be too difficult to put a small clear heavy duty vinyl window somewhere on the unit so you can see when you need to dump? -I needed to purchase the hose extension due using the vacuum in conjunction with my zero turn mower. No matter how you adjust the length of the hose there is no way to keep it off of the ground.. Too short and you put additional strain on the deck adapter boot, too long and its dragging on the ground. I ended up ordering an extra hose support arm bracket and hose support arm that came with the vacuum. I bolted it to the back of the mower, bought another bungee and it works well keeping the middle section of the hose off the ground. (out the door an additional $20) -The fastener that secures the hose to the deck boot can be designed better. The same offset/style as the one that is used farther up on the hose extension would probably work perfect. -The hitch adapter is flimsy... It bends under the weight of the tongue of the trailer. Everything else about this product is heavy-duty/Overkill, (Which I love) so why skimp here? Lastly, if you are not super diligent cleaning out the seals where the cover connects to the trailer it will not stay down. I've attached two short bungees on each side of the trailer to help to keep the cover secured in place. No issues after that. Overall this is a very cool product. If you have the space to dump the leaves and are sick of dragging tarp after tarp full of leaves, I'd seriously consider making the investment. Two evenings of running and dumping this unit around my yard and I'm leaf free. No more tarps. Minus these previous issues, well worth the investment when everything is said and done.
Response from DR SupportThank you for such a thoughtful well laid out review. We apologize for the bumpy start with missing items. Looking in your customer file it appears as though we've spoken to you about these matters and have sent you what was necessary. If you have any other questions or concerns don't hesitate to contact us. We certainly appreciate hearing about your experience with the DR Leaf and Lawn Vac. I own a 60iin Cub Cadet Tank commercial mower. The sales rep was very helpful in suggesting what I needed to to make the vac work on my mower. She also suggested that I not take a full cut with my mower to avoid choking the machine. Well, I wanted to see just what this thing would do. I cut about four acres. I have very little flat ground. When I put the DR Leaf and Lawn Vac to the test, my yard was a little over grown, full and green. I found that I could drive at a steady pace and take a full cut without choking the thing down. It took all I give it. I was impressed. I would usually cut the grass and if I had time, pull a sweeper to take up the heavy grass clippings in the worst areas. I found that I could cut my entire yard while pulling the vac over the entire yard in less time. Emptied it maybe 6-7 times. My mower has 27hp, so it had no problem pulling the vac even when full. The problem is you can't tell when it is getting full. That thing is heavy when loaded with green grass. It loads from back to front and it packs it in tight. I never filled it completely, because the front end of the mower would get light going up hill. Side hill mowing had to be done with the vac empty to avoid tipping. Gets top heavy when full. I bought the vacuum hose attachment. Works great. Be careful what you suck up, it has enough power to pick up bricks. But, it plugs easy with leafy twigs and small sticks. The only real problem I had was with the swing arm that carries the inlet hose. It does not keep the hose away from the mower. I melted a hole in the hose within minutes of using it. I designed a carrier that attached to my mower that worked perfectly. It made the hose curl and trail beside the vac when turning and not bunch up between the mower and vac. I love putting things together, but if you are not a mechanical person, this thing is a bear to put together. It comes completely disassembled. The topper is the hardest part. Don't be fooled thinking you will ever fold it up and put away. I will never take that thing apart, EVER. All in all, I am impressed with the power and functionality of the machine. My yard looked like a plush green vacuumed carpet when I was done. It picked up everything. The vacuum power was so great, that it stood the grass up like a flow bee. The grass cut perfectly even. My initial thought was that I would use it on occasion when the clippings built up, but now I am probably going to use it every time I mow. And, Oh, it is a leaf vac. I had a heavy layer of leaves down when I first used it. Nothing left. Chewed up heavy grass leaves and all. Full 60iin cut. Amazing!!

On-line buying experience: The website is straight forward to use and a very similar to many of my other online transactions. It is clear that DR would like for you to get the right product. Once I submitted my transaction for processing I received an email and phone call looking for specific information about the tractor I was going to attach too. Nice touch on the customer service side. The person I spoke with was very polite and wanted to be sure I knew what I needed to be successful at setting up the vacuum. Shipping: Once the vacuum shipped it was at the depot in my area in 3 days, and we arranged for the next day to deliver it to my home. The driver was very helpful in getting it off his truck and made sure that I was happy with the contents before he asked for my signature and left me there with the pallet. Packaging: the vacuum was securely packaged on a large pallet surrounded by a cardboard container with some reinforcement. It arrived undamaged and completely clean. As I disassembled the contents of the pallet it was easy to remove all the cardboard and then unpack the contents. The vacuum was packed very organized and easy to work with. Everything that I ordered was in the container. Assembly: Guy’s read the instructions cover to cover before you get going. They are not difficult to follow, but a good understanding of the process will help you see how each step builds on the next. I took the massive sheet of cardboard from the shipping and laid it out on the ground and set everything out on it, and confirmed it to the parts list before getting going. Keep and eye on the orientation of the canvas hopper cover and be sure the right length bolts go in the correct end (I did not – and lost a little time to reworking that step). The canvas stretched around the inner frame is drum tight. This lends to its amazing appearance, but also is the toughest step in the assembly of the unit. I did not have an extra set of hands helping me – I was however able to use a couple bar clamps to get the last fasteners in place. Set Up: Set up is very straight forward. Add crank oil, fuel, and check connections – and the engine was ready to go. It started second pull – I let it idle for a little while to let it come up to temp. Then I went on to give it a little more throttle. Once at temp the protective oil flashed off the outside of the engine – this is normal and goes away after a couple uses. The hose was the right length right out of the box for my application so I did not need to cut it down. The boot needed to be fit to my mower deck. This was not difficult, but did take a little time. The configuration on my tractor did not allow for the mounting hardware to fit right. My requirement was to have the boot attached without using any tools and had to be easy on and off. I could have bought the boot from my tractor manufacturer (but the cost of that was nowhere near what I wanted to spend). Between the hardware kit and some stock I had around the shop, I was able to fabricate a connector that is solid and easy to take on and off – meeting my requirements. Function: I have only used the vacuum a couple times now. The first time out I noticed that it was only getting roughly half of some of the smaller leaves in my yard. The big stuff it didn’t have any issues with it. This was no fault of the vacuum. My mower deck did not have good blades on it. I replaced the blades with a much higher lift set of blades and it works flawlessly now. Things to pay attention to: Turning radius, over hanging limbs, and how full the hopper is getting. I’ve had no issues other than learning how to incorporate this into my mowing/leaf pick up habits. Form: This is one good looking unit. The cover is drum tight and made of very high quality material. All the fabricated parts are clean and well protected with the coatings they use. The design details show a very well thought out product. I appreciate how they solved all the different functions of the vacuum from dumping to the choices of colors. Tips: Take a leaf blower and blow out all your flower beds, paths, patios, onto the yard that’s to be mowed. This is a super simple way to get up much of the levees. As I mentioned before my turning radius is bigger, once I blow the leaves out – I take one pass around all the tight corners without the vacuum – then connect the vacuum for the bulk of the open yard. In my trees I have blown/raked into piles and then use the hose attachment to get them up. Overall impression: I am very satisfied with my purchase. It functions as good as it looks. The build and design is top notch, and has plenty of power even at less than full throttle for my needs. I try to keep my yard clean every week during the fall. That process would take most of a Saturday morning (4hours). I just did the same amount of work in 45 minutes last night after work. I cannot comment on durability as of yet – but by my estimation of the materials used this will serve me very well in the coming years.

WOW!!!!! It isn’t often you purchase a product and it surpasses your expectations. The DR Leaf Vacuum is as advertised. No clogging, easy to dump, impressive volume of mulched leaves held. A piece of equipment that will make your life easier. I have a cabin that is surrounded by acres of huge oak and maples trees and this machine was up to the task. It cut the time spent on yard work to a fraction of what it was in the past. Time I am now spending hunting and fishing. Thanks DR!

The unit works great!! Does all that I expected it to do. The only compliant is that when the unit is full and you tilt to dump,it is hard to pull the cover up from the weight of the debris against it. However this machine performs very well and cuts workload in half.

John Deere 360 and DR pro XL with Electric Start Leaf and Lawn Vacuum

Vacuum shipped when promised. Assembly although not too difficult is a two person operation. The instructions and illustrations could be better. We missed the installation of two small studded bars in the front of the unit and had to perform surgery to install them. Our mistake but the instructions were a bit vague. The adapter boot although fairly priced required too much time and work to fit, cut, and install. I just ordered one from John Deere and it bolted right up to the mower deck. The engine starts easily and is powerful enough to do its work. Overall after the first use I am very impressed with the unit. It cleans the lawn very well. The capacity is great but you will have to use it several times to get a feel for when the trailer needs dumping. A vinyl window in the pop up would be helpful. I also own a DR three point chipper and am very happy with it as well. This is a good company who is improving there product line continuously.

I own a lawn care company and I am always looking to do things faster. Especially fall clean up. Which takes a long time. This was purchased with a little bit of apprehension. You know how things look to good to be true. Well I purchased online and had it shipped to a friends shop. It took us about 4 hours to put together. About what I thought it would take. Then I waited for some leaves to fall. The first time I used it I went slow pulling behind my zero turn, because of the fact I thought it would plug up easily. As I got used to it, I kept going faster. It will pick up dry leaves at 8 miles per hour. It will pick up wet leaves without much trouble either, just slower. I have had to make a couple of modifications to the shoot adapter adding more strength than what was sent with the kit. But no big deal. When I am out cleaning up yards in different areas people are asking me how I like it. I tell them it is worth everything I paid for it. This machine has already saved me hours of time and is only 2 weeks old. The only thing that I would recommend is I don't think that you would want to pull this behind anything smaller than a 52" cut mower. The side with the hose on it easy, it is the side without you could hit things easily with the wheels. And if you are picking up wet leaves dump it before it is completely full. Other wise it is a little difficult to lift the top to dump because it packs them in there so tight. I am very happy with my purchase and I am recommending this product all the time. Thank You very much. Sincerely, Mark M

Allocate some time to assemble this system. The canvas looks fantastic once it’s together but I found it challenging to assemble. The previous model (friend) was convincing. I was skeptical purchasing ‘the latest’ model. I now have the 16.96 Pro-XL and have run two loads through it. Amazing. The dump feature is perfect. Can wait to run many more loads through it.
Response from DR SupportThank you for your review on the DR Leaf and Lawn Vac. We have heard from other customers that the assembly of the canvas top does seem to be the most challenging. All feedback is important to us and we’ll certainly pass this information on to our product management team. We are happy that you’re enjoying the cart / dump feature! It's one of our favorites too! On a positive note. I must say I am impressed with how well the DR vacuum picks-up the leaves, lawn cuttings, twigs and acorns. We have 7 acres with numerous deciduous trees. This machine will cut my yard clean-up time and effort by a factor of 50. Believe me I am not exaggerating. On a negative note. This machine is not easy to put together as two people are needed during certain points of assembly. Also the instructions could be made clearer. Example: Instructions say to install the struts. Three lines down they say install only one strut at this time. With two struts installed (as I did) it is almost impossible to close the dump cart to its locked position. Also, once you have put the DR Vac together, I find it hard to believe you would ever want to take it apart for storage. It's that much trouble to put it together.

I am still getting used to how it tracks behind the lawn mower. I used a Cyclone Rake for 6 years and with the two hitch points and 360 degree wheels it always stayed directly behind you so it was easy to go around trees. Right now I am having to back up a lot because the vac is running into the trees when I turn to sharp. If the vac had swivel wheels and a tongue bracket that only allowed it to angle about 15 degrees (adjustable) then it would be ideal. I still wonder if it will last. I will know that in about 3 or 4 years. I use it about 50 to 60 hours per year. If you want feedback I will let you know as time goes by.

Pro XL Vacuum

Rating: Product Review Stars: 5.00 star rating
Very well built heavy duty machine. Lots of vacuum power. It pretty much sucks everything right out of my 54" mower deck. The trailer unit opens, dumps, and closes very easy. A very nice design. By far the best machine for the money. Cheaper machines do not have the same power and anything that does compare is twice as much. I hope in the future they offer a tail gate option for the trailer for when it is used as just a trailer. Currently the trailer would be open in the back when used by its self. I would also like to see a hitch attachment for use when the engine assembly is detached and it is being used as a trailer only. Right now a long pin is supplied to go through the square tube which does not allow for very good pivoting of the trailer up and down when being pulled.
Response from DR SupportThank you for your review on the DR Leaf and Lawn Vac. We appreciate knowing how the machine is performing for you and that the design lends itself to helping you with other projects. Great suggestions on the tail gate option and hitch attachment for the Lawn Vac. We are going to pass these along to our product management team. If you have any other comments or suggestions we would love to hear from you. Please feel free to email them to us at info@drpower.com. Everyone at DR® Power appreciates your business.

Q.Will the Pro XL Leaf and Lawn Vacuum fit my mower?
A.The Pro XL Leaf and Lawn Vacuum will work with most conventional-style riding lawn tractors and Z-Steers with 14 HP or more. To help determine whether the DR Leaf and Lawn Vacuum is compatible with your mower, please review the list of questions below. This information will also help you decide which model is appropriate for your riding mower. 1. Do you currently have a bagging or collection system for your lawn mower? If you do, is the diameter of the boot’s discharge opening between 6" and 8"? The blower inlet hose on the DR measures 8" in diameter, but we also have adapters for boots with diameters less than 8". If you do not, one of our Universal-Fit Mower Deck Boot, can be modified to fit lawn decks that have a discharge opening up to 6" high by 19" wide. If our Universal-Fit Mower Deck Boot will not fit with your mower’s lawn deck, you may be able to locate a boot by contacting the manufacturer or local dealer of your mower. 2. Do you have a pin hitch on the back of your tractor between 8" and 15" from the ground? If not a.)Is there a secure place on the back of your tractor to mount a hitch plate? b.)What is the distance between the rear wheels on your mower? 4. What is the distance from the back opening of the discharge on the lawn mower to the back of the furthest point of the back of the tractor? If the distance is 40" or less, our standard blower inlet hose will be sufficient. However, if this distance is between 41" and 7', then our optional Hose Extension Kit is required. If the distance is greater than 7', the mower is too large to be used with the DR. If you have more questions, please contact our Sales Team at Toll Free 1-888-550-0062 and a Sales Rep will be happy to help you. Sales summer hours are Monday thru Friday, 8 am to 8 pm, Saturday, 8:30 am to 5 pm, and Sunday, 9 am to 5:30 pm, Eastern Time.

Q.Prior models had a built in chipper. Do the new models also have a built in chipper? If not, are there models still available that have a built in chipper?
A.The built-in chipper was available on the Pro and Pro-XL models on the older Tow-Behind Leaf and Lawn Vacuum. With the redesign on the vacuum, the built-in chipper is not included, a decision based on a lot of customer feedback over the years.

To check on any reconditioned models on the older generation Vacuum, we generally recommend calling directly to speak with a Sales Representative at Toll Free 1-888-550-0062.

Q.What engine make, model, and horsepower?
A.Thank you for contacting us.

The Tow Behind DR Leaf and Lawn Vacuums have the Rato engine. They are a commercial grade engine. Many engine manufacturers no longer rate their smaller engines by horsepower. They rate them by foot-pounds of torque. Rating by foot-pounds of torque is a trend that is spreading throughout the industry because it is a more accurate measure of power. All of our machines are fitted with engines that are more than powerful enough to do the work they were designed to accomplish.

Please contact us if you have further questions. PL

Q.How do you empty the lawn vacuum?
A.Simply release the cart bed with an easy-grip lever, lift the collector handle. The dump angle is 60 degrees, so most everything should slide out. You may need to drive forward to get it all out.

A.We do not recommend using any of our equipment on slopes steeper than 20 degrees. This is for safety reasons as well as ensuring the machines engine is adequately lubricated. If you had any hard to reach areas, whether around bushes or down an embankment, we do offer an optional 17' vacuum hose for helping clean up.

Q.Will the DR 16.96 Pro-XL pick up the mess from black walnut trees?
A.Our Pro-XL model will work well for your application, as it offers the suction needed to pick up nuts. Whatever material your mower deck can lift, the Leaf and Lawn Vacuum will suck the debris through the impeller, pulverize it and turn it into mulch before being blown into the collection box. The impeller on the vacuum features 5 blades with serrated teeth for cutting debris into tiny pieces and carries a lifetime warranty against bending or breaking. We also offer the optional handheld vacuum hose that offers even more concentrated suction for picking up nuts. Thanks for your interest in the DR Tow-Behind Leaf and Lawn Vacuum.

Q.What is the CFM of this lawn vacuum. The horse power or the CC of the engine only tells me the amount of work it will do and not how much it will suck up. I would like to know the amount of CFM it will put out at full rpm. Thanks.
A.The CFM rating on the Pro and Pro-XL Tow-Behind Leaf and Lawn Vacuums is 2792 CFM. With the new redesign of our Tow-Behind Vacuums, it includes a larger diameter inlet vacuum hose. The new 8-inch diameter hose means less clogging and improved suction, 72 MPH for the Pro and Pro-XL models and 66 MPH for the Premier model.

Q.How well does the Pro-XL pick up grass clippings as you mow a sod yard?
A.The DR Tow-Behind Leaf and Lawn Vacuum has tremendous suction. When you mow with the Vacuum attached, you will get approximately 10 times the lifting power of your mower alone.

If the sod is fairly well-rooted and can take normal wear and tear, our Leaf and Lawn Vacuum is a great machine for the clean-up of grass clippings and other yard debris on a regular basis.

Q.Will it vacuum leaves from parking lots. We have 50 live oaks and tons of leaves both in parking lots and on lawn surface?
A.Whatever material your mower deck can lift, the DR Tow-Behind Leaf and Lawn Vacuum will suck the debris through the impeller and mulch it. It can be used on hard surfaces or turf. You will want to use a regular cutting blade on your lawn deck as opposed to a mulching blade which could interfere with the suction power of the lawn vacuum. The mower blade provides a good portion of the reduction for our Tow-Behind Leaf and Lawn Vacuum. We also offer an optional vacuum hose that attaches quickly and easily to the vacuum. The 14-foot hose picks up any type of organic debris and is great for any hard to reach areas.

Q.What size (diameter )hose does this use from mower discharge chute to shredder? Have you tried using this to pick up hedge balls (osage orange)?
A.The hosing on our new models is 8" in diameter. This size is for maximum power. Our Leaf and Lawn Vacuums are capable of suctioning and mulching anything that your mower deck is capable of lifting. If your mower runs them over with out shooting them out, then our vacuum won't be able to clear them up. However, if your mower does move them, then our vacuum wouldn't have an issue. Our steel impeller can easily pulverize material like the hedge balls.

Q.Do all three tow-behind leaf and lawn vacs have the same size blower/impeller ?
A.All models come with the same size impeller, which has a lifetime warranty against bending or breaking.

The impeller is mounted on a tapered engine shaft and creates air speed of 66 mph for the Premier model and 72 mph for the Pro and Pro-XL. The CFM's of 2038 for the Premier and 2237 for the Pro and Pro-XL.

There are 5, 3.5" high vanes with 13 serrated shark teeth welded on a solid steel 1/4", 13.8" diameter, 13.2 lbs impeller.

Our Leaf and Lawn Vacuum will vacuum up and reduce leaves and grass in a matter of seconds.

Q.What is the big difference in the 13.28 and the 16.96?
A.The 13.28 Pro is our mid-level unit. We recommend the Pro for larger lawns, 1.5-3 acres, and mid-sized lawn mowers, 48"-54" cutting decks. The 16.96 Pro-XL is our top-level unit. It offers the maximum power for larger lawns, 3-5+ acres, and larger lawn mowers, 54" and up cutting decks. With the larger engine on the Pro-XL you will have more power which will allow you to process more material and the speed in which it can do it.

Q.Does the connection to mower have a 2 pin connection so the bagger hose doesent kink on right turns and makes backing easier
A.Thank you for contacting us.

The DR Tow Behind Leaf and Lawn Vacuums have a single pin hitch. The vacuum hose has a support bracket to prevent it from kinking on tight turns. Unfortunately, there is not a 2 point hitch kit available for it.

Q.Can this unit be attached to a lawn tractor with a 3 point hitch?
A.It can be physically done with the use of an adapter like a Flexpoint Hitch, http://bit.ly/I6KVoK. However, the length of hose will need to be longer and you may lose some suction depending on length? Also, our deck boot accommodates an opening up to 6" high x 19" wide. So if your deck discharge opening is larger than this you will need to find another deck boot option.

Q.What happened to the built-in chipper on the Tow-Behind Leaf and Lawn Vacuum?
A.With the redesign on the Tow-Behind Leaf and Lawn Vacuum, the built-in chipper is not included, a decision based on customer feedback, as it was not a popular feature that customers took advantage of.

When hitched to your riding mower, the powerful vacuum force pulls in not only leaves, clippings, pine cones and nuts but also small twigs. The larger diameter hose means it will less likely to clog.

Q.Is there a hose available to use on the discharge of the vacuum to help automate the process of getting collected material into bags for disposal? Thanks.
A.For customers who would prefer to dispose of the clippings and leaves that have been collected in the Tow-Behind Leaf and Lawn Vacuum into bags, there is the optional mulch discharger hose.

The mulch discharger hose needs to be used in conjunction with the optional vacuum hose. You simply vacuum the material up and deposit it into a bag, compost bin, truck or out of sight behind trees or over a wall.

Q.Will this dr pro -XL fit a zero turn scag lawn mower.
A.Hello Marjorie, There are some measurements that would need to be taken to see if the Leaf and Lawn Vacuum will be compatible with your Zero Turn Scag lawn mower. What is the Engine Horsepower? What is the width of Cutting Deck? Does your lawn tractor have a pin hitch? What is the distance from the back opening of the discharge on the lawn mower to the back of the furthest point on the back of the tractor? Do you currently have a bagging system? If not, what are the dimension of the discharge opening on your mowing deck? The widest and highest points. With this information we will be verify the compatibility.

Q.I am looking for a "self-contained" yard vac, one that does not require a lawn mower deck to cut and lift material, but with the capacity of a PRO-XL. I am seeking a unit with its own collection system that can be pulled with a 4-wheeler, golf cart, etc.
A.Our Tow-Behind Leaf and Lawn Vacuums can be towed behind an ATV, golf cart or pick-up truck, but you would need to use the hand-held vacuum hose to vacuum the debris into the container. We do offer a Tow-Behind Lawn Sweeper that can be towed behind your lawn tractor. It holds up to 26 cubic feet, great for cleaning up leaves, twigs, and grass clippings from your lawn or driveway. The Lawn Sweeper can be viewed at the following web link: http://www.drpower.com/prdSell.aspx?Name=lawn_sweeper

Q.On the ad it say there is an option for electric start but if you push it there is none. Does it come with it already? Also would I have to buy the mower hookup for my mower separately?
A.Hello Nicholas, We do get back electric and manual starting Leaf and Lawn Vacuums as reconditioned condition units. I would recommend calling our call center to see what is currently available, as this inventory does change quickly. It will not come with a deck adapter, as not everyone needs one. If you already have a bagging system on your lawn tractor, it may be able to hook up directly. We sell two adapters, a Standard and an Angled. A sales rep will be able to help you determine the best option for you.

As a general rule, anything that your lawn mower blade will move, can be picked up with the Leaf and Lawn Vacuum. The combination of your blades spinning and the 72 mph suction created by the vacuum are what allow this to happen. Thank you for your question.
