Good trimmer.

I used the trimmer and it had plenty of power and worked well. It is fairly heavy for a man at 72 years old. I would suggest that DR add a shoulder strap to the trimmer.

Grass Trimmer

We gave it a 4 because for older folks the weight can be little bit of a problem. Do to the weight at the trimming end. However, after fixing a strap just in front of the handle makes it easier to hold and to trim with.

Good Product ... But

Trimmer was supper easy to unpack and get running. Very impressed with the quality and workmanship. Did not need the extra tree/flower guard in my opinion but easy to just leave it off. Plenty of power to cut down the higher grasses and weeds. Only issue I had was with its weight. The motor is at the trimmer end and the heavy battery at the opposite end. With this much mass at the extremes and you in the middle it takes a bit more strength to run the trimmer. Over 15-20 minutes I found my hands and arms aching. I'm in my later 60s so I guess that is all part of getting old.

works almost as well as a gas trimmer

This item is well balanced and easy to use. It could use a shoulder sling to take some weight off dominant arm. I have been using mine on the lowest power setting and it does a good job just a bit slower than my gas trimmer. The up side is it does not chew up line as fast. The only complaint I have is that when the trimmer arrived it's line was installed backward. When I tapped the head to extend the line, it disappeared into the head. No problem I just installed the line correctly. It's much more quiet than a gas trimmer.

Good but heavy

Product is very powerful and does a good job. It is a little heavier than I was hoping. Also, a tutorial video on line replacement would be helpful. Had never had a double line trimmer so was not familiar with changing the line. Once I saw how to do it it was very quick and easy

Well built machine
Posted by: CLAYTON W. from Ozark, MO on 08/16/2018
Rating: Product Review Stars: 5.00 star rating
This is a typical DR tool. Well built & sturdy. It seems to use an excessive amount of line, i.e. I trimmed & weeded my .3 acre lot once & used almost all the line it came with. Also, the bump-feed seems to suck in line rather than letting it out-not sure if it feeds line automatically as needed. Definitely a powerful machine, especially like the variable speed. Would be nice to have an edger position with wheels. I love DR equipment. This trimmer is better than other trimmers I've used, gas or electric, and has more than enough power.

This is my second dr power product and it has worked great. I looked at a battery powered sting trimmer after having problems getting my stihl gas powered trimmer started many times. This is a breeze to start. I also was concerned that it wouldn’t have the power to cut around the field but my experience has been that it cuts just as well. The battery charged has even lasted longer than dr claimed it would. Very happy with this product!!!

This is a great product for the right person. Alas, too heavy and powerful for me, a rather small woman. I gave it away to a stronger person after using it briefly and becoming exhausted. I wish you had a lighter product.

Better than my gas powered trimmer.

When my gas trimmer made some unusually rude noises and quit running, I knew I was going to have to replace it. I like cordless electric tools when I can find ones that have the power to take on tough jobs, and this is fits the bill nicely. The low speed does fine with most weeds, and when I get into a stand of Japanese knot weed, I set it to turbo and chew through them. I am quite pleased with it.

Best string trimmer I have ever used. I trimmed 150FT of fence and around 15 poles and only used 1/4 of the charge. Outstanding! You don't have to worry about a hot engine burning your arm. I love it. I just bought the DR PRO-62v Hedge Trimmer.

We are very happy with our string trimmer it gets a little heavy after about a half hour or so but it does have some drawbacks on the advancement of the string with the bumping mechanism but recharging is awesome.

Q.Can I use the larger 5.0 Ah Battery with any of the tools for which this 2.5 Ah Battery is recommended?
A.Yes. The battery we recommend for each tool is based on operating comfort weight and balance and the runtime normally associated with that tool. But using the larger battery is perfectly safe and will even double the runtime you can expect from each tool.
