Mow ball for the Beaver Blade attachment
Posted by: John K. from COTTAGE GROVE, MN on 08/27/2014

Item is well made and has held up very well. I cut about 25 buckthorn trees that were several inches across during my first use. It takes longer to move the brush and treat the stumps than the actual cutting. No signs of wear on the aluminum mow ball. Don't forget the spacer and hardened bolt. Thanks !

Our friends told us about DR equipment and we purchased a mower/trimmer and extra blades and we love it. Our friends have had their mower/trimmer for over 20 years and said it was the best.

Works well on sandy ground
Posted by: Mike15 from Wisconsin on 08/02/2013
Rating:
The aluminum mow ball is an accessory needed for the beaver blade attachment to the trimmer mower. However, my vacation property is in a sandy, gravelly area. The DR trimmer mower I have comes with a nylon mow ball. This mow ball is quickly chewed up and rendered useless by the sandy area I am cutting. The aluminum mow ball should be an option to the trimmer mower for land that has gravel or sand.

The Mow-Ball Support is easy to install, well-made, and fairly priced. When calling to order, the DR staff ensured that I got the right part to match my trimmer. This customer-care and service-oriented assistance is/was exemplary and demanding of recognition. Additionally, the part was promptly shipped. Thank you!

The mow ball quickly and easily installs on the DR trimmer ready for use. i use the beaver blade to cut small trees which i prefer to use instead of a chainsaw. once cut you can then mow without worrieng about hitting stumps with a lawn mower.

Beaver Blade
Posted by: JeremyT from Kansas on 07/17/2013
Rating:
For real brush, a finger wide or more, the Beaver blade is simply the most evil idea that I have come across on both sides of the Atlantic. For some one who actually wants to clear brush and small saplings when nylon or similar is not man enough this blade is almost fun to use. Short of using an implement which does not exist on a three point linkage on the tractor, this is the only thing I know that does the job. It is also easy to sharpen.

The aluminum mow-ball support is the practical choice for use with the Beaver Blade.
Posted by: Mary64 from Arkansas on 07/16/2013

The aluminum is light in weight, durable enough for typically grassy, soft, or smooth surfaces, and, of course, withstands the heat from the Beaver Blade. I am so thankful that your company has engineered the DR Trimmer/Mower to ease the burden of lawn care, especially for women.

Tough product for tough terrain

I have a lot of rocks softball size and larger on my property, utilizing the aluminum mower ball I do not have to worry about running the ball into rocks when I am cutting in high grass. I originally bought the aluminum ball to go with my beaver blade, now I use it with my trimmer. The beaver blade has saved me countless hours trimming my plum thickets. I no longer have to use a chainsaw and bend over to cut individual trees. This is a lot easier on my back and I can cut at least four times faster.

My husband feels that the ball isn't big enough to cut higher off the ground. He would, in fact, like to return it. The chain part is excellent. I think that we would like to give it another try this weekend, if it isn't too hot outside. We'll let you know

My yard is very rough with mostly wild grasses and weeds. The soil is decomposed granite and eats mow balls very rapidly.
Response from DR SupportWe appreciate you taking the time to post a review. Thanks for doing that! The Aluminum Mow-Ball is designed for use with the Beaver Blade to dissipate heat. It doesn't fit right when used with the Line Spacer Plates & Cutting Cord. If you use the Beaver Blade you really have to use the aluminum mow-ball
Posted by: Betty70 from Texas on 07/01/2013

The aluminum mow ball is best for the beaver blade. Holds up much better than a regular ball. I just love the beaver blade and the weed whipper. We have ponds and a creek on our farm and the lightweight trimmers make getting down to the edge of the water much easier. The DR mowers are great for fence rows and around the edge of crops, but the trimmers are much easier to handle on the steep slopes around the creek and ditches. I most appreciate the durability of all the DR products.

The aluminum mow ball is a great addition to the Dr. Trimmer mower
Posted by: Bison from Tennessee on 06/25/2013

I have been using a Dr. Trimmer mower for almost 18 years now. I like them much better than a standard lawn mower. The standard nylon mow ball is good for regular grass lawns. However, I now mow approximately 10 acres in a wooded / pond environment. The aluminum mow ball lasts longer than the standard nylon one. However, I just recently had the aluminum mow ball "melt" off from my mower. The center part is still screwed in, but the rest flew off like a frisbee while I was mowing. I plan to purchase another aluminum mow ball soon. Thanks for making such a great product!

This product doubled the mow ball life. My property is on an incline lined with limestone shelves that wears the nylon mow balls out quickly. At least one per season. My last aluminum mow ball lasted three seasons.

I bought this because we needed to clear land for a cabin on an island. I have an elderly DR Trimmer which I always enjoy using as a trimmer, but now I had to clear about 1/4 acre of growth that was too big for the normal trimming machine. The Mow ball and blade were extremely easy to attach. I can now swap back to the trimmer in about a minute. I thought I was going to have to crawl around and chain saw the whole area, but found I could just walk up to the small tree and lop it off very quickly and very easily. I figure this tool cut the work by about 75 percent. Great item!

aluminum mow-ball is essential
Posted by: daveBquick from New York on 06/20/2013

I use my machine in an urban setting, mowing overgrown vacant ghetto lots, lawns that got too high for a regular mower, or where there are rocks, bricks, and debris buried in the weeds that would destroy a regular lawnmower. I trim a lot of fence-lines that have concrete sidewalks on one side. The aluminum ball withstands frequent contact with concrete. The standard plastic mow-ball only lasted one season for this type of service. The aluminum ball is easy to install, and lasts forever. It should be standard equipment on every trimmer-mower.

Q.Will this work with the new Quick lock head? My property is rugged. In fact my last Aluminum ball finally ate itself up so will be ordering one soon.
A.The new Quick-Lock head is intended for use with the nylon mow ball only. It is not compatible with the aluminum ball. We apologize for any inconvenience and thank you for your interest.
