The Struggle is Over!

Our lightest model, the PILOT is ideal for light-to-moderate conditions. At just 55 lbs. it is the lightest Trimmer Mower on the market and is super-easy to maneuver. But the PILOT doesn't lack for muscle, and is guaranteed to dramatically outperform any handheld trimmer you can find.

An offset frame design allows the PILOT model to trim right up against foundations, fence lines and other obstacles with precise control. And with its low profile, you can easily reach underneath shrubs or fence stiles to clear out low growth.

We recommend the PILOT for continuous trimming and mowing (releasing the bail bar stops the engine). If you want the ability stop the trimmer head from spinning without shutting the engine down, step up to a PREMIER, PRO, or PRO XL.

Features
Trimmer line for a DR walk-behind string trimmer

Super-duty Cutting Cords

All DR Trimmer/Mowers accept super-thick 175 mil cutting cords—the thickest, longest-lasting in the industry (so you spend more time mowing and less time changing cords).

DuraBlades on a DR walk-behind string trimmer

Optional DuraBlades for 3/8" Thick Brush

With our optional DR DuraBlades you can quickly swap out your cutting cords with metal blades, embedded in a high-tech polymer, that slice through woody material up to 3/8" thick!

Optional Beaver Blade on a DR walk-behind string trimmer

Optional Quick-Lock Trimmer Head

Allows you to change your trimmer cord in just seconds—completely hassle-free! Cord is simply inserted into the head and is anchored in place by the unique gripping mechanism! Perfect for quick cord changes in the field, and for those who often trim dense thickets of weeds.

Patented cord attachment system on a DR walk-behind string trimmer

Patented Cord Attachment System

Attach new cords in seconds, without tools! Choose from one of five cutting heights (1.5" to 3.5") when you attach new cords. And the DR wide-body design prevents vegetation from wrapping and tangling around the trimmer head, even in tall grass.

Optional Beaver Blade on a DR walk-behind string trimmer

Optional Beaver Blade for the big stuff

The optional Beaver Blade turns your trimmer into a chainsaw on wheels. Cuts trees up to 3" in diameter quickly and easily. It's the perfect way to take down stands of "weed trees" without bending over or dropping to your knees like you have to with a normal chainsaw.

This is a great choice for someone that's looking to purchase an entry level trimmer that can handle most trimming tasks around the house. It's lightweight design and large wheels make it easy to maneuver around any obstacle. Best of all, it accepts some of the most popular attachments, including the Beaver Blade and Quick-Lock Head!

Q.How much cord comes with the trimmer?
A.When you purchase a Walk-Behind Trimmer Mower, you will receive a sample pack that contains 6 sections of blue and 6 sections of green cutting cord. The cord we offer is thicker than usual cutting cord designed to take the punishment of trimming and mowing tough weeds and tall grass with ease.

To avoid any down time, we recommend keeping a good supply of cord on hand. Our cutting cord is available pre-cut or in rolls. Our DR cutting cord can be viewed and/or ordered at the following web address:

Q.what is the horse power of the engine?
A.Briggs & Stratton uses FPT as a more accurate form of measuring power. Although there is not an exact conversion of FPT to HP, a 6.25 FPT engine would roughly be 4 HP. We hope this helps.

Q.how to change oil?
A.The current TR4 trimmer engines do not have oil drains except for the Subaru Pro XL engine. To change the oil the trimmer must be tipped on its side to drain it from the oil fill tube. You can also purchase an oil extractor pump like the one that we offer (item # 21581).

Q.Will the spindle disengage while the unit continues to idle or is it always engaged even when you start the engine (and dies when you let go of the bar)?

The Trimmer Head begins spinning only when you engage the controls at the handle bars. Then when you release the controls, the cords stop quickly, while allowing the engine to continue to run.

Q.What is included with this model Trimmer Mower? Thanks.
A.With the purchase of the DR 6.25 Premier Walk-Behind Trimmer Mower, you receive a sample pack of cutting cord. Six sections of the 155 mil green cord and six sections of the 175 mil blue cutting cord.

The DR cutting cord is thicker and longer wearing than the largest cord used on most hand-held string trimmers. This means you change it less frequently and enables you to mow thicker, fibrous vegetation.

Q.What is a life time for the battery and how offen do l need to recharge the battery?
A.A Sealed Lead Acid Battery typically lasts 3 to 5 yrs with proper care. They should be charged with a 12 volt 2 amp Charger. If you have a Maintenance style Charger, that would be the optimum choice.

The battery should be charged before each use, after each use and every 1-2 months when not in use. They should be stored in a cool, dry location but not allowed to freeze. The charging time to fully charge with a standard trickle Charger (1.5a or 1500maH) should be 8-14hrs.

Q.Do the back wheels pivot?
A.The 2014 TR4 Trimmer Mowers have a new offset frame design which ensures the cut reaches outside the wheel path, great for trimming under fence lines, along stone walls, near gardens, buildings and other obstacles.

With the new offset frame design, there is no longer the need for the parallel trimming action (PTA) feature, which on our older model trimmers allowed you to move the machine in a straight line while the trimmer head pivoted and tilted to the left for better access to fence lines and other obstacles.

Thanks for your inquiry. ph

Q.Can this trimmer/mower handle small brush? if so, up to what size or circumference?
A.There are multiple cutting options for the DR Walk Behind Trimmer. The cutting cord is designed to cut down grass and weeds up to a pencils width thick. With the use of the DuraBlades you can cut down woody material up to 3/8th an inch. This works great reeds and vines, material that is too thick to be cut by the cord. The Beaver Blade is a great option for cutting down thicker material, up to a 3" sapling. Both can be used on this model.

Q.I am looking for a Trimmer to mow my ditches, the hand held weed eaters are just too heavy and hard on my back these days. I am currently using a push mower which works, but again, can be heavy so I am wondering if your product might work better. My ditches are narrow so it would be pushing the Trimmer down and either up the other side or pulling it back up the same side to me. What would you recommend?
A.Thank you for your interest in the DR 6.25 Trimmer/Mower.

The Premier 6.25 model weighs just 57 lbs for the manual start model and 65 lbs for the electric start model. Much lighter than most walk behind lawn mowers. It also has 14 inch diameter wheels which helps a lot with moving it over rough, uneven terrain. The DR Trimmer/Mowers will handle hills with up to a 20 degree slope.

Q.Can this be used to trim around chain link fences?
A.The DR Walk Behind Trimmer can absolutely be used to trim around chain link fences! If you do not want the cord to hit the fence posts, we do offer a TrimSafe Guard that will place a barrier between the cutting cords and the posts, preventing any damage. If you find that the cord is being pulled out by the fence, I would recommend a QuickLock Head. This will hold the string in better. Please let us know if you have any other questions!

We do recommend ordering a roll of cord or a larger set of pre cut cords when you purchase your machine so there is no down time. A.Thank you for your interest in the 6.75 DR Trimmer. This mower will come with a sample pack of cutting cord, allowing you to try both our 155 mil green cutting cord and the heavier 175 mil blue spiral cord. There are two blade systems that can be used on this model. Q.There is a very steep hill where I would be using this trimmer. How is it for balance sitting sideways on steep embankment?
A.Hello Carl. We do not recommend using the DR Walk Behind Trimmer on a slope or hill that exceeds a 20 degree grade. It is dangerous for you as the operator as well as the machine. When used on hills that exceed the recommendation you can damage the engine by depriving it of lubrication. If you have any questions, please let us know.

Q.can the .225 heavier line work with the standard parts that come with the trimmer or do you have to upgrade?
A.Thank you for your question. The 225 mil Sawtooth cord is designed to be used in the Quick-Lock trimmer head only. It will not fit in the standard trimmer head. Our Blue 175 mil cord and our Green 155 mil cord will both work very well with the standard trimmer head. You can upgrade to the Quick-Lock head at this link: http://www.drpower.com/power-equipment/trimmer-mowers/accessories/4-line-quick-lock-head-kit---web-only.axd

Q.Will this work on bamboo? I'm planning on going to war on bamboo this year and I'm looking for an ally.
A.If you use one of our blade systems with your trimmer, you will be able to cut through the Bamboo with no problem. Depending on the thickness of the Bamboo, you'll have two options. The Durablades can cut through up to a 3/8" thickness and the Beaver Blade can cut through up to a 3" thick sapling. If you have a lot or if it is in uneven terrain, I would recommend going up a size, to the 7.25 Trimmer. There will be more power and bigger tires.

Q.Can you use this to cut down black berry bushes?
A.Thank you for your interest. For blackberry bushes, you would want to use something a little heavier duty than the cutting cord. We do have two different blade systems that may work, depending on the thickness of the bushes. The Dura-Blades can cut wooded material up to a 3/4" thickness. If you have something thicker, our Beaver-blade can cut up to a 3" thick sapling. Here is a link to our Blade Accessories: http://www.drpower.com/power-equipment/trimmer-mowers/accessories/blades/
