The heated treads work great, but the connectors need some frm of locking device. I had to tape them together with electrical tape.

I ordered two(2) heat pads at the same time I ordered the control unit, I'm wondering why I have not received them yet. When I get the rest of my order I'll be able to give an opinion.

Works great. Had 6 inches of snow and. none on the mats. I am planning on buying 4 more mats. It does get pricey, but if no one falls, the it is worth it. Only negative is I wish I had bought them earlier

Ordered these after hubby slipped on the wooden porch during a snowstorm. Just laid them on the steps (we anchored them through the corner grommets with screws). Hook them to the control unit, and there you go. If they save one trip to the ER, they're worth it.

I have some very difficult stairs to shovel, being 71 years young its not fun. The heated mats have solved the problem keeping the stairs clear of snow. We just got 20 inches of new snow and the stairs are clear.

Product Q&A
Ask a Question for This Product
Sort By:
Q.Can you connect a stairway mat to a walkway mat without buying another control?
A.Thank you for your inquiry. Each walkway mat draws 2.5 amps (300 watts) and each stairway mat draws .7 amps (84 watts). The GFI power unit for these mats can handle up to 13 amps total draw. This means on one power unit you can connect up to 5 walkway mats, up to 18 stairway mats, or any combination of the two that does not exceed 13 amps. I hope this adequately answers your question and if you have further questions, please don't hesitate to ask.

Q.How many mats come with the basic kit?
A.Thank you for your inquiry. We sell the components individually. Purchase one stair mat with controller and up to 17 more stair mats (per controller). You can purchase additional mats with control units if you have more than 18 stairs. These mats are a great ally in the never-ending fight to keep stairways clear in the winter.

Q.I'd like some idea of the cost/day or month to operate 6 stairs if the unit is left on continuously. Also, do the individual stairs get fixed into place or do they simply sit on top of the steps?
A.The mats only need to be left on during a snowfall and/or for a period of time after the snowfall. It is recommended to have an electrician wire the outlet to a switch inside the facility so the mats can be turned on and off from the inside.

Depending on the cost per kilowatt hour, the approximate cost per snow day to operate each mat is between 60 and 90 cents.

The mats are designed with 3/8" diameter grommet holes in each corner to secure the mats. By securing the mats, it minimizes tripping and keeps them from moving. It is recommended using screws that are appropriate for the specific surface (i.e. wood screws, concrete screws, etc.).

The heated mats are an efficient and convenient way to prevent snow and ice accumulation around the home. Thanks for your question. ph
