We live on about 3 acres and I wanted a tool to effectively trim branches in the way of mowing. I also wanted something I could operate without my husband if needed. This saw is awesome... small but mighty, and powerful! I love the rechargeable battery, too. The only problem is that my burn pile is always in need of attention now. I highly recommend this product!

I've only used the saw briefly. It was easy to set up, the battery charged quickly and directions were clear. It is a bit top heavy so care needs to be taken to control it overhead. It does cut effectively and I'm pleased with it so far.

Best Tool For Trimming Over Head Branches
Posted by: JO ANN K. from ISLE, MN on 10/29/2016
Rating:
The DR Cordless Pole Saw was so easy to put together. Trimming branches has been a breeze with this new chain saw A regular pole saw require so much effort and is hard on the arms, none of that is true with the DR Cordless Pole Saw. Both my husband and I can use this new saw and our work time has been cut down to minutes instead of hours. Another great product from DR Power Equipment.

Easy for a woman to handle yet powerful enough to do the job!
Posted by: Farriersgirl from CORNISH FLAT, NH on 09/29/2016
Rating:
The saw is lightweight and works well for low-hanging branches and saplings. The only issue is the chain did not get oil so it came off a few times with summer weight oil. We then tried winter weight, but that didn't oil the chain either. A quick call to customer service solved the problem... use mineral oil or vegetable oil! Vegetable oil, which I had on hand works well! I suggest the instructions be changed to mineral or vegetable oil, since no one knows what 32 weight oil is anyway!!! A good product for a woman!

handy tree pruner
Posted by: Roy A. from CRANBERRY TWP, PA on 04/22/2016
Rating:
I'm pleased with this little "chain saw on a stick". in addition to using it to prune tree branches up to 14' high from the ground, It is great for reaching horizontally to cut nasty wild rose bushes without getting lacerated by thorns. the 1 lb battery is not much heavier or larger than a nicad drill battery and has a much higher energy density. the pole saw with battery is pretty light and the battery at the low end of the pole balances it well. This is much easier to use than my "tree saw" (curved saw on a telescoping pole) that I had been using. The "tree saw" was forever getting stuck. The pole saw, rarely gets stuck. I'm planning to use this pole saw from a 20' ladder to get some higher large branches, that are too high for my Husqvarna 16" chain saw to reach. My property is a predominantly oak forrest {white, red, black, shingle, chestnut, and scarlett} with a smattering of maple, and hickory. The big trees average 90' tall and 150+ years old. Only a few are larger in caliper than 3' The 30 degree angle option of the saw blade is great for tree limbs directly over head. As far as cutting speed, it is a littlr slower than my corded Macullah, and a lot slower than my Husqvarna, but quite adequate for a 10" saw on a pole. Concerning battery life, I "ran around" cutting various low branches { the largest being about 5" caliper" } and hacking some rose bushes for about 2 hours and the battery was only 1/2 depleated.

As the owner of an original first generation Field and brush mower I have come to have high expectations of the DR product line. The pole saw lives up to those expectations. Light and easy to use but with plenty of power to get the work done. No disappointments here.

I love all my DR battery powered tools. This pole saw is great. Thought it was going to be awkward handling at first but got used to it now cutting everything in sight!!! It really extends out to a great length too. Ladder is not required in must cuts I've made and I'm 5' 4. Battery is extremely good. Doesn't loose power like others I've had. You get more than your money's worth with this tool. Our son in law even wanted to borrow it and didn't want to give it back.

Little Saw That Could !
Posted by: HUTCH from DAYTON, ME on 10/02/2015

DR Cordless Pole Saw enabled me to do the necessary homeowner clean up around lawn and 3 acre woodlot. I'm thinking about putting a more aggressive cutting chain on the saw, as I become more used to handling it. It has allowed me to put off calling the tree-guys for at lest another year. At $400 dollars an hour for men and equipment, that makes my wallet happy, and in my mind pays for the saw. I would give it a homeowner 4 star rating. ****

I first bought the 24 volt regular chain saw and used it I took down some pretty good sized trees and cut down some stumps lower to the ground. I have used other battery stuff in the past and have been very unhappy with them. But when I finished with the first saw from Dr. the battery was going strong. I then a few days latter got this saw and put it together and then got the battery off the first saw and went out to trim the low branches that were hitting my head when on the riding mower going under the tree. 5 min of work with this saw will give you 3 days of clean up work. By fare this is 1 of the best tools I have bought would recommend it to any 1 to use It does a lot of work is light to carry around and since I have had 4 shoulder surgeries I can handle this tool well.

Light duty pole saw great for homeowners. Much easier to handle than the corded model. I wish it had a little more extension like the corded model for better reach. The chain jumped off a couple of times but I like the no tolls required to install the chain when I am down in the woods on my land.

Pole Saw
Posted by: Richard Birch from Lexington, NC on 05/14/2015
Rating:
This saw is adequate for cutting fairly thick branches. However, the teeth spacing on the chain is unusually large for a chain saw. This results in a kind of chopping action on the limb instead of a smooth cut. If the branch is small and flexible, or you are not at the base of the limb (near the end), the limb begins to whip as the chain engages and disengages. The saw would be easier to use if the on-off switch were located a bit farther up the pole from the battery. It's current location always requires one hand at the very end of the pole, leaving it very unbalanced.

Excellent Saw....
Posted by: WANDA P. from GRAPEVINE, TX on 05/04/2015
Rating:
This thing works great. Battery lasts much longer that I had guessed it would. The only thing I can complain about is that the bottom grip (it grabs the branch and holds it as you saw) is made out of plastic (as opposed to metal) and doesn't grip the branch as well as a regular chain saw. The blade doesn't come loose as fast as a regular chain saw and it requires no tools to tighten it back. I love this thing!
