Q: Among the available models, what are the differences among the DR Rapid-Feed Chippers?
A: Because they use the power of your tractor (up to 65 HP), the PTO models potentially offer the maximum power and speed. But if you need a stand-alone machine with its own engine, the 30.00 Pro-XL model will devour just about anything up to 5-1/2" in diameter.
Q: Can I safely tow a DR Rapid-Feed Chipper on any road?
A: With the optional Road-Towing package, the Pro and Pro-XL Rapid-Feed models can be towed behind a garden tractor, or on the road behind your car or truck at speeds up to 45 mph. The Premier model does not accept the Road-Towing package, but it can be tipped back and wheeled using handles built into the hopper. Or you can tow it with a lawn or garden tractor or ATV using the optional Pin-Hitch Package.
Q: How are DR products shipped?
A: We offer 3 basic options:
1) Delivery to a Depot
2) Delivery to Home or Business
3) Enhanced Home Delivery
Q: How often do the chipper knives require sharpening?
A: Because our knives are made of high-carbon/high-chromium forged alloy tool steel, they can go significantly longer than the knives on most "bargain" chippers without sharpening. Still, as with any cutting tool, keeping a sharp edge is important for maintaining peak performance. How long you can go without sharpening will vary considerably with the amount of chipping you do and the type of material you are chipping. When the chipper starts to slow down and requires that you regularly force the material downward, it's usually a sign that the knife is dulling. Many customers choose to get an extra knife to have on hand. That way, you can keep working with a minimum of downtime.
Q: What happens if my machine needs work?
A: If you ever have questions about your DR Rapid-Feed Chipper, you can use our Owner Support area. It offers a rich resource of information including troubleshooting, Owner's Manuals and replacement parts. Should you have additional questions, one of our Product Specialists can help you. These folks have in-depth knowledge of the DR Rapid-Feed Chipper. They’ve spent many hours in training and they have also put the machine through its paces mowing in a variety of conditions, so they know what they’re talking about. If necessary, we can get replacement parts to you right away or direct you to one of more than 1,500 authorized DR Friendly Service Centers nationwide.
